It is coming here, and apparently it is a big deal.

From searching around, it does seem that it is set to reach the suburbs as well, at least some. Not quite sure which ones or if it will be so from the start, but I am assuming all the well-populated areas will eventually be implemented.

Years back comcast was talking about putting a fiber optic backbone though america.

They dumped so much money into the project and never finished it... which is too bad, because if they had succeeded their stock would have skyrocketed. I was watching that very closely.
