View Full Version : Do you try to sell the 240sx to people?

Not sell my car personally but try to talk people into buying one.I can't help but do it cause I love the car so much. Maybe it's because I''m a salesperson(not a car salesman)by trade, but I just think it's such a great car. So many engine swap choices, bodykits and parts galore. And the potential is limitless in my eyes. My friend is selling his civic right now with plans on getting a 240. That's all me:D . Do you try and talk people into getting one?

i talk people into not getting one. i dont like when sh*t gets so popular. 240's are becoming the new civic now  soon APC will be making those horrible altezza lights for them and cheap parts. just what we need. yay rice me :D :p

the only good thing about them getting popular is maybe we might be able to find wheels with decent offsets, and sized for better prices, other than that, screw the wannabes

I tried to get my brother to buy a 94 coupe for $500. But other than that, no.

When talking about cars I'm pretty good at remaining objective about the whole thing. I always mention the 240, how much I like it, and it's +'s and -'s, as well as my opinion on many other cars in the same catagory/price range...depends on who I talk to and what the reason for conversation is.

I usually discourage the people I see unfit to drive 240's. I've had many a ricer come up to me asking "yo, i like driftin in my civic, but i want to buy a 240sx because i want to drift with rear wheel drive." I usually skip the part about not being able to drift FF and tell them that drifting is stupid and 240's are overrated and they don't handle well. I tell them to buy Mk2 MR2's instead (I'm trying to start an MR2 bandwagon to get them off our nuts).

i don't because i don't think it's a great car, i think it's a great car for me. most of my friends are not very into cars so they don't care. most of the time i have to explain what rear wheel drive is, let alone why it's better in certain situations.

oh, and by the way, you can drift a FF. not to say that those guys do, but it can be done.

i only encourage the correct type of person to get a 240 i tell honda guys that they could beat me in the quarter and shit just to keep them the hell away from decent cars

i don't.
i tell them what it is.
a cheap, slow, but fun to drive car that tends to be pretty reliable.
in the great scheme of things, it's nothing special.
it's not a ferrari enzo for damn sure.

hm well i just got mine half a year ago so call me a bandwagon jumper :P. seriously though i had no idea they were getting popular until after i got it. i just wanted a rwd car. i don't think they will ever reach the ricer status of the civic simply b/c there aren't enough 240s to go around. ricers also don't seem to handle mechanical problems well. oh well.

i tell people they should get one
when they tell me they want to drift i sincerely hope they crash 'drifting', jack up their insurance (im out of that age group now so no worries for me), and that's 1 less 240sx out there and that's 1 more junk car i can get parts from.

works out for everyone.

mmm me likey

aznpoopy.. being a bandwagon jumper would be BEFORE a year and ahalf ago, the bandwagon started about 9 months ago.. I got mine 2 years ago, and I hardly call myself a bandwagon jumper, their are some ppl where who got their cars like 10 years ago, thats freaking SWEET

aznpoopy
10-20-2003, 09:47 AM
huh? bandwagon jumper = someone who jumped on the bandwagon with everyone else, right? if it started 9 months ago and i got my car 6 months ago, then technically i 'jumped on the bandwagon,' so i = bandwagon jumper. i'm confused.

to me, bandwagon jumper = someone who jumped on the bandwagon = someone who bought it (by your dates) in the past 9 months. i didn't mean to say 'i got the jump on buying a 240 before everyone else,' which is what i think you thought i meant.

I have had mine since '95. I have loved the car since day one but didn't realize the potential until about 2yrs ago when I got the "swap".

I don't recommend the 240 to others mainly because I don't want them bugging me everytime they need anything done to their car:axe: I just enjoy my car and when people ask me about it I give them real world opinions. I just make sure that I don't take them for a ride:D

So I'm technically a "bandwagonencourager" Oh well 100 years from now the "240sx bandwagon" thing won't mean s**t. I honestly don't think I'm a band wagon person myself though, I never drove a civic (hehehehe).

I've driven a civic before. what can i say.... its a civic

i wouldn't consider myself a band wagon jumper either. I only actually know 1 person with a 240. He got me into 240's. I was like hye that car looks pretty sexy (at this time i was stuck on getting a crx) Then he took me out drifting. Ever since then i've craved a rwd car. And i came to the realization that the only rwd car that can actually do something and won't cost me too much is a 240. :D

......guess their gonna have to catch up. Two companies already make a clear taillight and and "euro" tail light for the S15. And a clear, meaning there is no red on the lens, and a clear and red for the S14, s13, and rps13.

I doubt the 240 is gonna go the same route as the civic. Most poeple don't even know what the hell I'm driving, like when the guy at the gas station asks me if my car was the new Nissan.

i am seeing more and more FOrd Tempo and similar cars with extra big wings, extra big exhuast, and dragon or similar decals on them. I don't know maybe that the new trend?
The only reason i bought my car was because i wanted a sports car and my dad wanted me to get a 4 banger so i guess it worked out for the best. Bandwagon jumper i am not

I tell everyone it's a slow POS... but it's got good tires! :D :D :D

I think the world would be a better place if everyone had Falken Azenis at all 4 corners.

lol i had a ford tempo as my first car (it was free). i ordered some VTEC and NOS stickers off of ebay for like $5 and put it on my car to piss off ricers. as soon as i got my license i took them off though. ford tempos are gay enough as it is.
i got my car back in march, but at the time i didnt get it because they were popular, hell, i hadn't even heard of drifting or any of that stuff thats becoming all "bandwagon." i just wanted a sporty car with a manual transmission that looked nice. this was about the only one i could afford, so it worked out great.
btw, drifting is lame, auto-x is better:D

I've got my car back in 2001 summer, so does that make me a bandwagon jumper? My first car was a celica 88, but I know I wanted a rwd car and I fell in love with the s14 when I saw my sleek black 96 in person. Damn I'd wish I knew about the difference about a 97 and 96 back then, I woulda gotten a kouki instead however as time pass I see the zenki looks better and better doesn't look bland anymore =P. But back on subject just what mods are proper mods anyways? I peronally think suspension should always be the first thing to get but some people think the opposite, so how is one way the proper way?

TurDz

It seems like people who had their cars before the bandwagon started don't want to share the joy they have with 240's?? haha There's always going to be people untastefully modding their cars and lets just say were a little lucky since the amount of 240s out there are far less than civics.

I just got my car about a month ago, I never considered myself a bandwagon jumper or anything. All I wanted was a good handling car (over my 96 Maxima) and I just wanted something smaller. Then I realized, oh wait, Nissan offers a 240SX which is RWD, so I said, hey, might as well stay in the Nissan family.

I found about about NICO and Zilvia soon after and realized how much aftermarket support there is for this car. In the bay area I'd rarely seen S14s around, but since I've gotten mine (white) I've discovered 3 other white ones (OptionZero and NZO are included) in my small college town. I guess that's just what happens when you actually own the car.

I never realized till I bought my car that I lost my virginity the same night I took my first ride in a 240. Will be an anniversary date here soon. My first ride in a 240/in the sack was on Halloween night. I think it was fate. :D

Oh btw, I had no clue about 240's when I bought mine. It just happened to be a hot looking car that fit my budget perfectly at the time. I was brand spankin new in the military, and blew my whole bonus on my car.
