View Full Version : Silvia Kouki aero stuff, why so rare?

These are factory parts correct (front bumper, aero lip, aero valences, silvia rear)? Did Nissan of Japan stop manufaturing these parts after they disconintued the S14s?

Why can't someone in Japan simply order the part from their local Nissan dealer as we would here for the US/Euro front Kouki lip?

I'm just not sure on what parts are available to order from the dealers in Japan. Does the Silvia Kouki bumper fall in this category too?

I'm pretty curious because a friend is there for an internship until December, and if he can order some parts for me from Nissan those would be my first mods since this is a rare opportunity.

Why oem? It's boring and looks like the car stock from Japan! Whoopdee doo.

You might as well get something more orignal, better looking and aftermarket.

Sorry, but it doesn't really answer my question. My basic concern is why people in Japan can't simply just order these OEM body parts directly from Nissan. Shouldn't they continue to produce these parts for people who get into minor bumper accidents, etc? (just as they do here in the US)

Or has production of these parts TOTALLY stopped? I've never heard of that case before though.

Oh I know, these body kits are so gaudy and the lines aren't clean at all.

Oops, you musta posted that as i was typing. Sorry then, guess I can't really answer your question. Bust I would still rather have either of those kits over oem.

S14Falcon- i like the Vertex Kits myself, not saying its gawdy, but im just saying, some people prefer the OEM Aero stuff over the aftermarket stuff regardless if its gawdy, bulky, ugly, clean, nice, etc....

Dude, if people like the OEM look, then they like the OEM look. Whats the big deal? Its gonna be urethane, while many aftermarket kits are fiberglass. OEM has near perfect fitment. For some, that matters. If you want a Vertex kit, more power too you. Looks awesome, is awesome. Full kouki aero conversion? Sweetness also.

If u're only getting it because its rare, then that defeats the purpose doesn't it? Shouldn't you get stuff you LIKE?

I LIKE the look of the s14 kouki bumper. It doesn't quite stick out as far as the vertex kit, a little bit more front over hang (slight, very slight), its urethane, it flows with my stock skirts and body. Yippie!

FYI, that last one is the greddy lip isn't it? being a lip, u'd need to buy a kouki bumper to fit it on your car...

That's right. I like the clean Aero stuff. Simply put, I consider clean to be the perfect amount of lines, curves, etc.

I think those aftermarket kits are a little too thick. The valences and skirts go too low in my opinion. So I guess I'm saying, yes, I do like the OEM look.

Anyway, I think we're getting a bit off topic. Responses to the original question would be appreciated. thanks for all the feedback so far.

Assuming theya re still available from Nissan Japan, they will be so much money and then a lot of money to ship that most people would never consider spending the necessary loot to get it. I dont think people understand just how expensive OEM things are. They are INSANELY over priced.

^^^ werd, never buy from the dealer. Kouki is only rare to acquire in the US cus it's JDM, as for almost all JDM parts are hard to get in the US. anyways

95-96 240SX referred to as S14 zenki
97-98 240SX referred to as S14 kouki

i dono if you knew that, but they are factory parts. other places to look would be like e bay or just talk to j-spec. ;)

Those are all factory parts and they did not stop making them...well they did not stop providing them.

They can...but I don't know how its done over there.

I believe all the parts are available to order from Nissan Japan. However they will NOT come cheap.

The silver car has the AERO lip (OEM part) with Zenki sides and Kouki AERO rear valence.

Okay, it's pretty much cleared up for me, thanks for all of your help everyone.

Hmm, I wonder if I can find out how much the OEM Aero front spoiler is brand new. If it's near the range of the USDM/Euro spoiler ($250-$300) and a few hundred bux for shipping, I'll definately get it, and then get a used Kouki bumper.

My main goal right now is to get a Kouki bumper and Zenki sides. :)

I think its going to be close to $500, since this front lip covers th lower portion of the front bumper....meaning it has alot more work and content put into it. But that is just my opinion since the front bumper is $700 brand new.

Dude, i believe you are referring to the wrong car.

I meant this picture:

Is actually an Ings lip on a kouki S14 bumper. So u'd need to pay for a lip and a bumper, neither of which is cheap.

Sorry, my originall post said Greddy, but i was so blind i didn't see the fat Ings stickers everywhere!

as long as its not discontinued, any dealer in japan can get it (you'll need an importer--jspec for example to order it for you).
but you'll have to pay japan retail + 5% tax + 3%import tax + agent fee + shipping from dealer to warehouse + shipping from warehouse to dock + shipping from japan + markup

so a 700 new oem bumper will cost near 900 by the time you pay for it
also that is NO lights..which is another amount on top of that!
its also FREIGHT only because UPS [usually--shouldnt but depends on driver] wont ship something so large (like a bumper)

as for junkyards, most of the stuff is pretty beat up but you can find a jewel but it takes time because it still is popular over there too.

if someone is willing to find it (takes time), buy it, pack it ship it and doing it for free (let's say a good friend) then you really owe them a nice favor!! its very time consuming and $$ at times

businesses dont work for free!

good luck!

thanks for your help. I think with the # of posts from you, plus the amount of times I've seen your name mentioned in various threads (using the search function of course!) you're a reliable source of information.

If I was the one in Japan (instead of my friend) I would be buying tons of JDM stuff!! I might actually have the opportunity to go visit the guy I know in Japan because his bro is a really good friend of mine and I'm deciding whether I should go this winter break. Should I?? ;)

Dude, I believe you are referring to something that doesn't exist. That car has an INGS+ front BUMPER. Not a lip. That thing is all one piece.

Turd, if all you are looking for is kouki bumper and zenki sides (and either rear) JSpec.com REGULARLY carries those items. Used of course, but very good price. The sell quickly though, so wait till the begining of the next shipment. You will save a ton of $$$ going that route.
