The yellow mark on my driveshaft wore off and now i cant tell how to line up the lsds mount with the driveshaft mount. Now when i drive and put the clutch in i hear loud clunking noises coming from the rear, i think this is the problem. any suggestions on what to check and how to line up the driveshaft? Thanks

ummmm......its just 4 bolts. There isn't any special way its supposed to lign up/bolt up. i think you've got other problems.
You are just talking about the end of the driveshaft bolting up to the input on the differential right?

What he's saying is that service manuals tell you to line up the marks on the driveshaft with the input shaft on the differential. Like it makes a difference in shaft runout.
I don't think it really matters. At least it didn't on my car. But you could try to rotate the driveshaft one bolt hole then drive it to test it out. I'd say the clunking is coming from the lsd.
What kind of lsd is it?
I think he's running a VLSD, which shouldn't be clunking at all!!
I for one didn't line anything up when I installed my diff w/ clutch pack LSD... maybe it only matters on vlsd (read: stock parts)?
That said... I'm trying to figure out what could clunk.
are you sure all the driveshaft bolts are tight? LSD - halfshaft (axle) bolts tight? Do you have fluid in the LSD? (Yeah, you want fluid in there for sure!) .... can't think of anything else for now.
Good luck!
