You guys (and girls) have a CD that you don't go ONE day without listening to at least once? I do and I recently realized that it recently changed. Since 1997, my favorite CD has been Common's "One Day It'll All Make Sense" and the reason was that at the time, the album was damn near written and spoken from my own point of view and that is a GREATLY appreciated thing for anyone who likes music as much I do. Some of you heard about my summer vacation and I apprecioate the kind words of those that had them for me.... Back on topic of my off-topic subject here. While I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and the following 10 at home before going back to work last month, I realized that there was a CD that I listened to EVERY day and have continued to listen to daily since the return to work, sometimes 2, 3, 5 times a day... Here's where I want a response: what is your favorite CD and if you have time to kill, post a picture of the album cover. Me? That CD has now become Buju Banton's "Friends For Life" http://www.vh1.com/shared/media/images/covers/170/470/476461.jpg and he is now the first reggae artist since the Late Robert Nesta Marley I can say lays claim to more than one album that will be forever taken as classic material. I will leave this one open to discussion now, lemme know what you are feeling...

Beber and Tamra - Suite Beat Boy

well, I dont listen to it anymore since someone has been borrowing it and passing around, but it's the only cd i've listened to once a day for 6+ months.

Audio for it is here:

don't be fooled by the cover, it's not a fluffy album. Sick nuskool breakbeat and a pretty good singer. I was really surprised that my friends actuallyliked this album.

I have to listen to HiTek's album "Hi Teknology" everyday. It is the absolute hotness. To me this is what hiphop is all about... the true essence of being

I thought Hi Tek's album was good too, but in that ilk of hip hop, which I will also add is what I find myself m,ost dranw to in hip hop, I find earlier things that Hi Tek did to be a lot better. Listen to the Reflection Eternal (Hi Tek & Kweli) CD "Train of thought" and listen to the beats that Hi Tek had to put down. Take a step back to 98 and listen to the Mos Def & Talib Kweli "Blackstar" album and see that Hi Tek put out some KILLERS, especially "Twice Inna Lifetime" at the end of the CD. I liked Hi Tek's CD against what came out around the same time, and by no means is it a bad CD, but I don't think he came anywhere near his full potential with it.

Philip, you dissapoint me. I have almost everything that Rawkus has put out. Even including the Soundbombing series (the first double CD being the best IMO)

What I have done was rip them, convert to MP3 and burn them to a single CD so I don't have to go searching for the CD everytime I want to hear one song.

I do agree that Blackstar and Reflection Eternal are a great albums but what sets it apart to me is the diversity of HiTecknology.

G'head and be disappointed, but know that I have everything that Rawkus has put, out (yes, the entire catalog) since the first lyricist lounge, and some of the spinnoffs of the label as well (Eastern Conference Records, The High And Mighty aren't on Rawkus anymore) and Both Supafriendz albums... Yes, Hi Tek's album was diverse, but my reasoning for liking an album isn't always based in it's simply being different. I liked the extremely high level of lyricism found on the Blackstar and reflection eternal albums, something that seemed to have been lost on the Hi Tek album in comparison. Oddly enough, Hi Tek did NO beats on Quality, one of the BEST albums that came out in 2002, but Kanye West did 4, and they were the four best songs on that album too.

My bust I did mean to say the double CD of Lyricyst Lounge.
FYI-I was j/k with the dissapointed comment (dissapointed that you would think I am not a Rawkus fan :D)

I do completly agree that the rhymes on Blackstar are incredible those same exceptional lyrics are carried over to Quality

Sounds like a good idea, coming from north VA, you will pass right by Steeles and then my house on the way to Charlotte, we both live about 5 miles apart and right off of 85, just let it be known when you are coming through and we can surely link up on the way, if we aren't also going to lowes at that given time...

i've got to get my fill of The Verve/Richard Ashcroft each day, but i just got one of the greatest CDs last tuesday.
Travis's 12 Memories http://www.lyricscafe.com/t/travis/12memories.jpg has been in my CD player since it came out, and while the rest of their albums are great, this one just seems better

It would have to be the 1993 Platinum album, Music Box from Mariah Carey. It was an absolutely great year in High School, and that whole album was played thoroughly. I listen to one song at least once a day since 93' due to a superstition that it is good luck since the school year beginning 93' was one of the best.

All state football, baseball, 6 steady girls (2 cheerleaders one of which was a senior godess, 1 volleyball, 1 basketball, 1 choir band chick who knew how to scream)
There was more, but it gets ugly :D I got a 1988 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, those were good times.

Up until about about three years ago, it was They Might Be Giants - John Henry...
http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/Sources/AMGCOVERS/music/cover200/drd700/d776/d77673n27f7.jpg

I got this album when it was first released, back in '94... this album was one that defined high school and most of college for me. The sound, the attitude, I devoured it.

My last year of college, I was listening to Radiohead - Kid A every time I had work to do for class. Every project, paper, or simple assignment was done with Kid A in the background. I don't know why... I guess the nervous, sparse, cold feeling just fit.

After college, moving down here to Maryland, one of the first things I did after moving here was start hanging out with some other Neon owners ('95 Sport Coupe, RIP). They were all listening to this music that just sounded so right... nothing since John Henry had talked to my state of mind quite like this, Clutch - Pure Rock Fury.

MP3/Wma capabilities on my current CD player have absoloutely spoiled me. there isnt a single album I listen to everyday anymore. I currently and for the past two weeks have had my "single files" CD in which is a collection of everything.. from Classic Rakim to tracks by Jay Z, T.I., Redman, Meth, Kweli, Joe Budden, Supafriendz.. and others. 209 tracks on one disk. 5+ hours of music I can hit random and listen to for evidently weeks on end. and there was still more stuff I wanted to put on there. I never got into my Wu Tang stuff or my Outkast, or tons of other stuff. I need a bigger CD wallet. both my 200 and my 75 are full plus I got another probably 100 in their cases in the storage box in the attic.... slowly getting it all burned to mp3s and such

I don't believe I've gone a day without listening to at least one Linkin Park track. I've got all their albums lined up on one MP3 cd and set to random play.

Last year i listened to Faith No More - Who Cares a Lot? pretty much every day. I love every single song on both cd's of that album. It suprised me that there could be such a good band and not get any attention.

Before that I listened to Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine all the time. I love the music and the lyrics on that album. It is one of a few albums that i never get tired of no matter how much i listen to it.
