View Full Version : Help! Car stays on while in gear!
Ok guys I just finished a sr20 blacktop on my 240sx and everything is done. Went to take it for a drive and the car goes into gear but if I let the clutch out all the way the car stays running when I hold the brakes it doesn't stall or jerk just stays running but in gear. Hopefully someone can help

clutch is fried, Needs to be replaced.
Should have been the first thing to replace.
if it is the clutch, then you better consider replacing the flywheel as well
Sorry clutch is brand new. Raised the rear end up and the wheels move so it's going into gear

your description makes no sense
So you can pull up the Ebrake put the tranny in gear and let go of the clutch and the car will not stall.
Car will not move at all in gear correct?
If so, your clutch is fucked or transmission is fucked or you forgot to install the driveshaft

That is correct take of the ebrake and the car does not stall. Raised the rear end and the rear wheels move so the drive shaft is connected. That's why I'm stumped! :(
Try bleeding the clutch fluid again.

i know what it is ... its the retainer clip that holds onto the clutch bearing, or bearing itself, you should inspect that area cuz that same thing happened to me it turned on and everything but it wudnt go when i release the clutch in gear

Yeah it sounds like the pivot fork is not installed correctly or the weird spring that holds it in might of came undone or something. Good Luck!
well seems like ill be taking the tranny off this weekend to see what the culprit could be.
