I removed my 38mm Tial wastegate today looking for the source of my exhaust leak. It seems that the valve is not seating correctly. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

Hate to be the obvious guy, BUT
Are you 100% sure this is a tial gate and not a knockoff? I had a knockoff that did this. Got a real tial and no issues. If it is real you may want to remove the cap and inspect the diaphragm/spring.

It's definitely a real tial, ive had it for 3yrs and nearly 30k mikes with no issues. I was able to adjust it so that it closed but after a few runs it happened again. Any other thoughts?

my guess is it needs a new spring
diaphragm would be if it failed to open

Springs good, and the valve's not bent. It just won't shut all the way. Ill probably end up buying a new one
