hi, first of, i have used the search button already :). i did found useful information about wd-40ing the clutch pedal and all that clutch pedal bushing bs, don't think that is my problem tho.
i have a 1990 s13 with a ka24e. i did a swap to a ka24de about a year ago keeping the old ka24e transmission, which shouldn't be a problem because they are interchangeable. while i did the ka24de swap, i put in a brand new exedy stage 1 clutch kit(clutch and pressure plate), act light weight flywheel, and stainless steel braided clutch line(from master cylinder straight to slave cylinder).
after 7-8 months of the installation, my clutch pedal start making squeaking noise as I'm stepping down or releasing my clutch. As the days goes on without trying to fix this problem, it start to squeak AND CLICKS as I'm stepping down or releasing the clutch, now that sounds really bad!
one day when i step on the clutch, all i heard was a loud pop noise and the clutch wouldn't come back up anymore. I took off the transmission and find the pivot bolt broke in half and both teeth on the throw out bearing broke off ? weird lol. so i replace the pivot bolt and new throw out bearing and everything drives fine besides the clutch engage point got a lot higher than before(don't really know why).
only about a month after, the same noise from the clutch is coming back again :( this time tho it would not happen all the time. it goes in and out. sometimes I would drive a mile and the noise comes on but there would be other days where i drive all day and no noise at all :( weird ? right now it only squeaks no clicks, but i assume the clicking would start pretty soon and eventually the pivot bolt and throw out bearing is going to snap and break again. I just want to know what i did wrong so when i fix it this time, it won't happen again.
NOTE: don't know if this would help any one to give me a more accurate guess on the problem, but my friend have the same engine(ka24de), same transmission, same clutch master and slave cylinder, SAME CLUTCH(exedy stage one kit), SAME PRESSURE PLATE, just different flywheel and clutch line (he has stock ones). BUT MY CLUTCH IS LITERALLY 3 TIMES STIFFER THAN HIS CLUTCH to step down???? super weird right?
Anyone with input would be very helpful (preferably ones who had this same problem before). Thanks for reading this long ass post :) Have a good weekend everyone. drift and drive safely !
