title says it all, this time i figured out how to make a poll! :)

I've never driven an S14, but I really like the looks of the later S14 nose. The ones with the really agressive looking headlights.

I _HATE_ S13 seats. I'd take the vinyl seats in my 325e over the S13's any day.

Until I drive an S14 I'll have vote for the S13...

Fastback. I love every style of the 240SX, it's just that I don't like trunks as much as the open hatch area. I've never had a car that had a trunk, come to think about it. hmm.

is it true that the s14 is easier to drive and has a stiffer chassis?

also isnt a fastback like 300 pounds lighter then a s14?

GotDriftS14

S14....why? well for one it has a much more solid chassis which responds better to suspension mods. it also has revised rear suspension design for better fine tuning. and then theres the wider track and longer wheelbase for better hi-speed stability and what not. the whole car overall is much more refined than the S13 (not to say the S13 is bad). nicer interior, IMO better looks on the outside, but that's always an arguable point. plus you can fit wider wheels under the stock fenders. S14's are the man!

PS: oh and as for the S14 being 300 lbs heavier, HAH!! the weight difference is a good deal under 100 lbs between the S13 fastback SE and the S14 coupe SE IIRC.

on performance, id say the s14 is better for turning, and response, but the s13 can be modified to be just as good, kinda like how a lancer is turned into an evo with chassis reinforcements, its costly, but saying that it can be done. for straight line performance, i would say s13, cause its lighter. on looks, i would say s13, i like the s14, but its rear lights, and the rear fenders are ugly enough that i chose the s13. the s13 has better overall looks, while the front of the s14 kouki(mean eyes) front looks better than the s13. now the rear fenders of the s14, its just too narrow, it looks flat if you see if from the front angle, yea you can always modify it with fender kits, but i dont like doin that to cars. so overall the s13 gets my vote.

I would have to say the S13. I have both and feel that the S13 is more dexterious than the S14, IMO.

to me...the S14 doesn't look anything special...and its a little porkier,and the S13 has more power I thought? hmm...lighter,more power and hatchback,and looks hella cooler? The answer to me is pretty apparent.

I have heard of the S14s improvements over the S13, but I just love the Kouki tailights on my S13, and the fastback has and always will be one of the sexiest production cars ever made! ...chassis stiffness? nothing some seam welding, and a roll cage won't help.

I think with S13 hatchback, you can carry more grocery or tires for drifters. S14 has small trunk which kinda sucks at times. Looks wise, I think 97-98 S14 is the best. Plus they are more rare than S13s. Performance wise, S14 does handle a bit better cause it is wider. "wider is better!" Plus it is newer so suspension is set up better. Well, that's my opion.

02-29-2004, 10:06 PM
I prefer the S14, because it has a sexy appeal to it when done right. I also prefer the styling of the coupe (S14) more than the fastback (S13).

thaiger77 - You sig is freakin HUGE. :tweak:

ok driven both, S14 though it may not be much heavier, feels and drives like it is bigger and heavier, in comparison to the S13 Fastback. That out of the way the S14 is much quiter due to being comfort level refined by Nissan. For comfort and boulevard cruising the S14 is superior . In terms of sports car feel and look the S13 Fastback rules!!! Yes the S14 has a stiffer chassis. as far as earlier posts about it having a more refined suspension, hahahhahaha. Whoever said that needs to look at the rear subframe design of the S14 its identical to the S13 in basic layout as it is identical to the z32 rear subframe design and the J30 subframe design. Guys, Nissan did not refine the subframe design between any of these models. ITs the same multilink suspension. The only thing Nissan refined in the S14 was the chassis stiffness.
The S14 has a stiffer chassis but its stock suspension is tuned softer than the S13's hence more of wallowy big feel like a mustang or american car.
The only way to make a S14 (IMHO) rock is to immediatly upgrade the suspension to get rid of that wallowy american car feel. even after you do that the car still feels bigger than a S13 Fastback or coupe IMHO!
Yes I cast my vote for the S13 Fastback, I don't hate the S14 but its not my cup of tea.

I own both Love my S14 nothing cruises like it does but it has a weird mustang like feel to it. When I get in my S13's they feel more like a little sports car They scream to be dogged. I voted S13 but in truth I would vote S13 for raging around in and S14 for cruising and being noticed. IMO

for looks, i HATE the rear lights of the s14, that f**king bar. the s14 roundish headlights don't do it for me. the s13 definitely feels lighter and more sporty, i think that the japanese would agree, as the s13 wasn't discontinued when the s14 was introduced. in the mid-90's nissan took the s14 and r33 and revised them, and look how much people reacted negatively to it, that's why the s15 is smaller than the s14 was. and just look at how the aftermarket reacted to the s14, how many of the big tuner companies went with s14 instead of staying with s13? not many!

An s-14 having been my first car, I'm kinda biased. But don't get me wrong, I love my hatchback, but come on, let's face it. Only one of them will fit two people in the "trunk" w/o out the average passerby seein somethin they really aughta not see.

S13 fast. Have one, love it. Looks awesome, and because of the glass out back it has a near 50/50 weight balance. A little porkier than the coupe because of that, but nothing a little carbon here and there can't fix. Besides, I enjoy building things from the ground up, so having a basic car (like mine) gives more room for creativity.

s14 for sure i cant even believe this is a poll . s14 looks way sleeker , has a better stance , chassis is unbelievably stiffer than the s13,s sloppy front end , lets put it this way , i love the s13 i had one , but i bought an s14 , and i have done 1/2 the suspension work on my s14 that my s13 had , and the s14 is already handling better , sliding smoother , and is way easier to counter steer and control with the ebrake . all you can argue that the s13 is better , but this is for sure . im not convinced that the s13 is better at all . and i have the right to say that cuz i have driven both for 2 years at a time . :werd:

and to the s13 owners , dont get butthurt its just my opinion , no disrespect .

I had an S13 SR20 now I have an S14

overall if it wasnt for the S13's age... I like the look of the S13 fastbacks... I found my S13 easier to slide easier to drift and control while the S14 is a bit more quick to rotate- result of wheelbase lengths S14 has a longer wheelbase

the fastback is cool... you can carry your track tires to the track without putting them in the drivers seat... S14 can only fit one in the trunk

my S13 rattled like balls... the hatch would go nuts until I drove fast enough for the spoiler to work

the S14 doesnt rattle as much

I laugh at S13s. HAHAHA! That's me laughing.

S14s are more sensitive with throttle control, are more responsive, and respond much better than a wimpy s-bad luck-13 could ever wish to handle. So haha to hatchbacks. Close tha door!

S14s rock the house. They're sleeker, newer, much more comfortable, and have all sorts of improvements all around. I think maybe an S13 would make a slightly better dedicated drift / race car, but for a daily driven car, nothing can beat the S14. And personally, I've always preferred the Zenki. The kouki looks to me like it's about to have a stroke.

I've had both. I love both, but I'll have to go with the s14 because s13's are a dime a dozen and I CAN'T STAND the electric seatbelts. Plus you see waaaay more s13's on the road than you do s14's.

ive had both, and i have no preference, they are both fun cars and have theyre highs and lows, although, obviously the s14 will be the better engineered car. well, at least it should be.

I have to agree on the S14 being a stiffer chassis. My friend and I recently test drove one, and he eventually bought it. I drove it around for a day and definitely liked the way it handled versus my fastback. Though it is a much heavier car. (maybe because my car is gutted)

If I were going to build a track car, I would use a S13. Just because it is lighter, and I can reinforce it to match or better the S14's chassis.

I want an S14 for a daily driver though. Add some beat, aero, wheels, and just maintain it.

it all depends on application. i may fix up an S14 later on when the S13 becomes the track slut it was born to be :)

there is a reason why nissan stopped the s14 after the kouki front end...perfection. haha no I like fastbacks slammed, type x bumper, sleepy eyes and turbo. but pretty much a 97-98 with a motorsports front lip and jdm grille and slammed looks way better i think. :doh:

Actually, an S14.5 is much better. Especially, when you stuff it with an RB25DET and put some decent suspension on it. Start with some Tanable Springs, Tokiko shocks, Cusco front and rear Sway Bars, Cusco front and rear Strut bars, 4 Volk Racing Limited Edition CE28N wheels, 8.5" in fromt and 9.5" in rear, with Nitto 555 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear.
Wallowing about? I don't think so, this thing handles like a rocket sled on rails!
Who hauls groceries in the trunk? That's where the two 12" JL Audio W6V2 subwoofers, in their cutom made enclosure, with their two JL Audio 500 Watt amps in their custom amp rack, three 1 Farad Caps, and the Rockford Fosgate 1100 cca battery belong!! This supports the JL Audio 360 Watt 4 channel amp for the passenger compartment to drive the front 6.5 components and the rear 6.5 two-ways. Hey, you gotta have tunes even when you are going fast.
Sit in the Sparco Torino 2 seats, stretch your feet out to the pedals and revel in the power and handling of one awesome beast.

i have an RPS13, and while i do like it, i'd rather have a Kouki S14, cause they look meaner.....but ive never even been in an s14 nevermind driven one, so i cant vouch for handling ETC.....

....but if i had my choice in life, i'd hafta have an S15 Aero Spec R in baysideblue........

The 180SX is perfect for use as a track whore. I stopped working on our 180SX Project for awhile, so I could spend more on my S14 Kouki.

180SX = track car
S14 = street sleeper
S15 = both

The only reason I bought another S13 fastback is because I already have an S13 project and a parts car. My 3rd S13 is my daily driver. However, I was looking for a Black S14 95-96 SE for my daily driver. More of a luxury car feel and when lowered on nice wheels and tinted its just a very very sleek car. That is as long as the headlights are fogged over. Blah. I voted for the S13 but Im torn. I like them all.

s14 pawns you with insurance otherwise i love my s14 over any s13. I dont know how to express the deep love i have for it. Overall i like all the nissans ever made except for the fwd ones. I think s14 are more expensive to maintain if you beat on them over a s13. Like if you were to break a headlight or get into a front end accident you can easily replace it on a s13. After reading this thread i think i might get a s13 and make my s14 a daily driver with light mods. I love how my s14 looks and i've had enough damages to the body to buy 2 s13's.

I have to vote s14 though because its sexy.

s14, it's the improved version of the older s13, the only one point s13 may have is looks which is subjective. When I first bought my 240sx, i had to make a choice between the s13 and s14. I was going to get the s13 at first b/c I thought it looked pretty nice, but then the pop-up lights are really getting kinda old. Glad I chose the s14
