just wondering what you guys thought. Should i buy a 97-98 240 and keep the s14 front end, or buy a 95-96 and do a s15 front end conversion. Money is an issue so do you think the cost of an older 95 with the front end converion is cheaper than a 97 or 98? I would be swapping the the engine with an sr20 so the mileage wouldnt matter all that much. Thanks for any advice.

Yea...I think you are going to get flamed, but I won't do it.
Anyways...if money is an issue just get a 95-96 240SX....the front end will grow on you (esspecially with the SE lip). Also they are cheaper and easier to find. Oh yea....you shouldn't have mentioned your going to swap the engine if money is an issue.

Yeah, also, if money really is an issue,I wouldn't be worrying about swaping front end. If you want to do something, then buy the zenki and swap the engine instead of the front. In the end, do what you think will look good, if money was an issue for me, I would swap the engine and mod it before I swap the front end. I happen to like the zenki, but I also like the kouki, so whatever. But thats just me.

I'm so tired of this backlash about anyone doing a front end conversion. I have an S15 front end on my 95 and even people that don't know anything about 240s think the car looks awesome. What is it with people getting pissed off anytime anything they think belongs to them gets popular? Get over yourselves for sh|t's sake. In case anyone is gonna start yelling about how I'm ricey and all show no go, I've also got the S15 motor in the car as well, so save it.

And if you are feeling frisky, an S15 front on S14 not only looks like ass most of the time, but since money is an issue and you would have stock wheels or crappy cheap ones probably, kill yourself 3 times in the head.

it's not that it's popular, it's that when someone gets a 240 the first thing they think about is what "conversion" to do to it. sounds like a ricer mentality to me. then they go into "SR or KA-T" ****. and barely ever mention suspension, which, IMO, is the most important part of the car. if you want a car to do light conversions on and look "mad tyte yo" don't waste a perfectly good 240. yeah the signal cars look great, but how many of you have the skills or tuning able to back that kind of sh*t up? i'm guessing just about nobody. there are so many ricers with nissans these days, it's sickening. the 240 is already a pretty rare car so why you want to go and f*ck one up? i don't care WTF kind of car you drive, it could be a top secret R34 GTR for all i care, if you don't drive it , i mean really drive it, then you are just wasting your time, money, and a perfectly good 240. now i'm not talking about everyone here, just some people, and they know who they are. the guys who bought 240s cause they're the in thing now. go buy a civic already.

You guys are all haters because people do things differently than you. Every chat board of the 20 I'm registered on, people are always bitchy.
I got my 240 for $1000. So far I've done struts and coilovers, new master cylinder and new door( had some damage). Then I bought some 17x8 and 17x9 rims with big wide tires. I then bought new carpet for the inside and I'm making it look clean and nice like stock. Next I have s15 front end in the mail and rest of bodykit then I'm getting it painted to look decent because the car is a bit banged up right now. THEN I'm turbo'ing the KA and other stuff.
Now call me a ricer and poser and follower and some stupid teenager who doesn't know what a 240 is good for...but I'm 22 years old, and I'm doing this with the money I am gettign from selling off performance parts from my low 12 second custom turbo'd probe (which I did with my own hands and my own money).
Lay off the :bs: and let people make their cars into s15 wannabes and yadda. Who cares if they don't do it how you want...let them enjoy THEIR cars.

Have you ever noticed how some of the people on this board seem to have this mentallity that somehow they are better than you because they've "been into the car" for a longer period of time, when in fact everybody on this board is new school cuz the cars are nearly 14 years old....well some s13's anyway. It's really sad. Honestly though, i think this forum has really gone down hill. :(

$400 for wide fenders (bling bling) or more economically, like $30 for stock kouki S14 fenders.
$200 or so for headlights and cornerlights
$50+ for hood
Anyway, that is a significantly less chunk of change that you could put towards other aero goodies, spare rims, tires, track events, insurance, etc... And your car would look 10x better IMHO.
Or you keep your car zenki and rock it all smooth graceful style. Hipposleek, MSports, Vertex, etc... all have super good looking zenki S14 kits. That would save you a good amount as well. How many of THOSE do you see in the US? Eh? Chris's (Speedalliance) and 1 other in SD (Chris's is my favorite), none here in LA area, none in Norcal that i know of, etc. Shiiiit, a nice zenki S14 is more rare than S15 Converzzyns.

I agree w/what you are saying to a point. I personally have an s15 front conversion on my car. I've had quite a few people ask about doing it to their own car, either on the street or acquaintances. I'm mixed on the whole front end, I really love the way the front looks but I don't think it was really worth the hassle and worrying. If I could do it all over I'd probably go w/the kouki front just because its an all bolt on deal. S15 conversion fenders don't fit perfectly out of the box, there is a great deal of work that has to be done to make them line up correctly. Add the fact that they are fiberglass brings a nother minus. Cost for me wasn't really an object, the front end conversion wasn't taking away any funds from any other aspect of the car. I know this won't hold true w/everybody though. Bottom line, if the cost of an s15 front end will prevent you from enhancing another aspect of the car, I'd recommend against it. If you like the way it looks then go for it. Don't build the car for other people, build it for yourself. If you're too insecure to hear negative comments along w/the praise then don't post pics here. There are some people here that don't believe in the old adage "if you have nothing nice to say then keep it to yourself".
As far as uniqueness, I've actually been seeing plenty of nicely done kouki's and zenki's driving around lately. I've seen about half a dozen nicely done s14's in the last week. I don't know if its just the area i'm in or what. On the other hand, I haven't seen any s14.5's in my area at all.

No I wouldnt find it funny because I actually like the way the stock 300z body is styled(IMO I dont much care for the one in the link) and the mechanics of the car. On the other hand I am not a big fan of the probe or the mechanics of that car. So, while I can respect hp numbers and speed, I have a hard time liking the styling of the car. If I came out saying I had a 89 CRX with a rocket engine bungy-corded to the top of it, it would be fast, but it would be funny too. And that is what the probe seems to be to me. Just because the car is fast doesnt mean I have to like it.

(these prices are assuming, installed, properly fitting, good work at an assumed low price that an average, smart consumer could achieve).
I would keep everything the same but the first 2.
$2k for Nice kouki aerokit (like Vertex, Grace, Friends, Hipposleek, etc...)
$400 for wide fenders (bling bling) or more economically, like $30 for stock kouki S14 fenders.
$200 or so for headlights and cornerlights
$50+ for hood
Anyway, that is a significantly less chunk of change that you could put towards other aero goodies, spare rims, tires, track events, insurance, etc... And your car would look 10x better IMHO.
Or you keep your car zenki and rock it all smooth graceful style. Hipposleek, MSports, Vertex, etc... all have super good looking zenki S14 kits. That would save you a good amount as well. How many of THOSE do you see in the US? Eh? Chris's (Speedalliance) and 1 other in SD (Chris's is my favorite), none here in LA area, none in Norcal that i know of, etc. Shiiiit, a nice zenki S14 is more rare than S15 Converzzyns.
Chew on that shit for a while before you go make your car 'DIFFERENT' than everyone else who is doing the same thing you are doing...

Call me a ricer cuz I put the S15 front off the same car i got the motor from onto my car? Fine, then line up next to me at a light or on the track and we'll see who the ricer is. Hey i think I know you. You live across the street from Grant? You had him fix your car cause you dont know how to install TC rods and take off lower conrol arms and tie rods? (If thats not you i appologize, but i think it is you...)

I dont think you have seen my car. Why? You would know that It looks nothing like a stock 240sx, I dont have clean TE37s (dirty BNCR33s are teh sexxxx), its far from slow, My car did have a lot of rust at one point, and I think drag racing (especially on a street at a stoplight) is stupid.

That's just how it goes around here. There are some people on this forum that have a very high and mighty view of themselves and think they're the experts on everything. However, unlike normal people who like to share their knowledge and help others out, they just flame the sh|t out of anyone who asks any question they consider to be a waste of their oh so expensive time. I hear it used to be cool here back in the day, but now it's just a joke. And I'm sure once these very assclowns read this, they're gonna tell me to leave if I don't like it and more than likely I will because this place stopped being productive a long time ago. I just feel bad for the guy who started Zilvia and has obviously put a lot of hard work into it only to be ruined by these elitist dumbasses.

1)I chose to work on that car at my own free will, so I can learn. Now I know how to replace control arms an tie rods on my own car :D
