Sup everyone, first time posting on this board.
Hey I have a question for you guys if you people don't mind helping me out with.
Im planning to buy a 97/98 240sx within the next few months. Being in So. Cali is kinda hard to find a 5speed 240sx that is in good condition with a reasonable price tag.
The first thing that I'm prolly gonna do is replace the KA with a VG30. Well I was wondering if it is required that i get a new trans for the engine?
Because if I do need a new trans with the swap then I can just look for a 240sx with an auto trans right?

Try your best to start off with a 5spd to begin with. Putting in the clutch pedal assembly is not really that easy and can be very time consuming. Better time can be used on doing the swap.
Good luck.

Yes to all your questions. You'll need a new tranny and who cares if it's an auto cause you will just swap a manual in. Which VG30 will you be getting?

I figure if he has time to swap in a VG motor he has time to swap in all the goodie's that he would need for a manual.

the eaisest thing to do for the pedals on a auto to manual swap is only put in the clutch pedal just cut down your brake pedal with die grinder or a dremel . I had a buddy who has a shop in Silverlake cut mine with his die grinder took 15 minutes and the pedal looks like a stock manual brake pedal. hanging the clutch pedal is not that hard the outlines for your holes are on the inside of your firewall. You just have to drill and widen.
Done it . Now sporting a extremely low mileage 91 fastback(23,000 original with a 8,000 mile 98 5 speed) soon to be KADe+T .
