have you found out how the insurance company wants to deal with this?

its not looking good.
since i was the one to hit the truck they're trying to say its my fault.
apparently people swerving into my lane and shit doesn't mean a thing.

i'd guess insurance would total it.
if you're good with your welding skills and can find another front frame clip, you can fix it.
..that, or go front tube frame!

Let insurance total it. Retain, get check, find another chassis swap parts over.

Yeah if you're going against the city you may be screwed. Did anyone get the information from the driver that started all that mess?
XxHybridx
05-09-2011, 03:29 PM
yeah was thinking the same thing. going up against the city won't be easy.
but no, the lady that made the whole mess took off, i was in the back and the city truck drivers didnt bother getting the lady's plate. they really didn't seem to give a damn. the truck didn't get damaged. just got some white paint on it.

#1 Going from your story it sounds like it could be made up (from the insurance company's point of view). The lady who caused it took off and nobody got any plate numbers or anything. So to them it's like a ghost swerved in front of you causing you to hit a city truck. Sounds sketch, but I understand shit like that happens. I'm not sure if you can get any security cameras from any nearby places that may have been facing the street and/or for that intersection where she made the illegal turn. Even then it would be hard proving that she did make an illegal turn if the camera isn't directly on her car.
Basically I believe you are screwed in your position.
#2 I would do a RHD conversion, just replace the whole front clip! If not, then I'd get a new shell to swap everything over. It's definitely fixable with some work, but it will never be the same. Your going to have shit that won't line up, and who knows it may have caused more damage throughout the car because the force looked pretty decent.

yeah, totally get what your saying.
i kinda gave up on the whole insurance thing because of that.
and i did go ask around to see if anyone had cameras, but nothing.
it doesn't help that all the other drivers gave the same story? for the police report.
and even the cop was saying the the fact that im twenty and in a 240 isn't gonna help the situation >.>;

Chances are this car has liability only. So no matter what, owner is assed out.
Just pull that shit out.
hessianben
05-09-2011, 04:05 PM
well, if you have insurance, you may as well use it. You have full coverage or just liability?
if you have liability only, you're SOL.
If you do have coverage, get it totalled, buy it back, and use the check to fix it, or buy a shell and transfer your parts.
XxHybridx
05-09-2011, 04:08 PM
liability. so yeah, SOL.
just trying to find a way to not have my insurance rates go too damn high after this.
right now my main focus is trying to figure out in what shape my car is in for repair.

That's pullable. Here's my S14 about 3 -4 years ago.

Eventually ended up looking like this before I sold it. Bumper sagged only because I didn't have a bumper retainer on it yet.

thank you!
see, that looks very very similar to hit.
how hard was it to pull, and did u experience any noticeable problems.
obviously my car won't feel the same, but just wondering.
LoneStarSilvia
05-09-2011, 04:46 PM
No problems at all other than ofcourse having to replace parts. It never affected steering or even alignment.
I can't personally speak on how hard it is to have it pulled, I had a friend of mine who had experience in doing that type of stuff do the pull and it took him less than a week to have straightened out and he did a great job.
So what I'm trying to get at is that's its possible, but ofcourse the final product varies on what you damaged and how good a job the repair is done.

i was in an eerily similar predicament although the damage on yours looks worse. insurance didnt do shit for me so i ended up parting some of it out and selling the car.

if you were to bring that into my body shop we would end up replacing that section of the rail. it can be fixed relatively easily if you can weld. otherwise good luck finding a shop that will pull that for you and not rape you and steal all your money lol. just find a shell and either cut it and fix that one or transfer all the shit from this one to the other.

i was in some what of the same boat you where in cept it was worse i had quarter panel damage. i wound up just paying a 1000 bucks out of pocket to fix the damage.. even though it was shop kinda at fault i did not bother. in the end i learned people suck and will screw you over. so take it like champ and fix yo shit, cut out that shit and weld in a new one you should be good ! best pf luck man i know how it feels.

my s13, and luckily i wasnt driving. it got backed into by a coworker while it was parked. so his insurance is covering it. repair estimate came out to 2800 something and the market adjustment put it up to like 3300.
Just like LoneStar did, if you don't want to total it, fix it.
If you have the patience and a little skill/help/motivation.
here's a few of my friend's car I helped with.
