Well i bought an s14 (95 240sx) last friday... And as we stopped to get gas a hole bunch of problems happened... first we couldn't get it started (and it wasn't even trying to turn over when you turned the key it just did "click" then nothing), then the key broke off in the ignition... we bash the ignition cylinder off so we could turn the wheel.. then push started it and drove it home... now it's time to get new parts, i don't know exactly what i need. I took out the starter and tested it and it was fine??? but still won't start when we turn the switch (with out key)... it shouldn't require a key if we just turn the switch... what could be the problem? and with the steering column we completely tore the ignition up so i need a new a new ignition cylinder? and what ever holds it to the column/stem or what ever

-Thanks!

did your plug on the starter fall off ? Mine falls off on my starter on my SR alot. just have to get out and clip it back on. The key shouldnt matter, my key is broke in the ignition as well.

You mean the plug on top the cylinoid? or what ever? i didn't take it off my friend came over while i worked on a different part of the car... but i mean it seemed like everthing is working... and have you ever thought of replacing the par for the ignition? me because mine is no longer even on the car (sludge hammer)...?

sounds like a grounding issue to as why the car has trouble starting. check grounds and start over

Yes the prong where it clips on at. And I drilled out the old ignition to get it off.

so basically just put it back on and make sure everything is connected?

Ya there is still the metal ring around the steering wheel column/stem and it's riveted and a pain to get off with drilling... i think i can probably use a dremel and cut it off.

if it just "clicks", check your battery so the terminals are tight..
If not, see if the car used to be automatic, it could be that they didn't wire up the ignition correctly. because when you convert the car from auto to 5 speed you have to loop some wires so the ignition completes the circuit.

It was an auto... but i have no idea what you mean about the complete the circuit?
