earlier this morning...i pitted myself with the hardest decision i have ever had to make...here's the story....
lately, my car has been experiencing a lot of problems lately...within the last month, i had to put over 1000 dollars in repairs...which has brought me to a dilemma...sell my car or stick it out...at first i thought i would sell my car and just buy another s13 fastback...but this was the first car that i bought...i had to work my ass off for this car and don't want to part with it so easily...it only has 83,000 miles on it...so it can't be junked yet...but it's costing me too much to maintain....anybody have any suggestions on what i should do???
Only 83k, what kind of problems are you haveing? That sucks...dono what to tell ya

I'd say if you have the put even more money into it at that rate, sell it. I think I've just reached the $4000 mark for the year I've owned the car.

i know the feeling of "it's my first car", it's ahrd to get rid of 'em. it really depends on what kinda financial situation you are in right now, and what kinda carp the car is going through. if it's serious problems, i'd sell it, and buy it back when you are a freaking billionare.
i've heard an interesting story, this guy who traced his first car (bmw 2002), and got it back, and restored it. pretty whacked...

let's see...this month, this master brake cylinder went bad...radiator is leaking...can't get any communication with the ECM using the scanner...water pump went bad...car doesn't start regularly anymore...car stalls at idle...hesitated acceleration...probably forgot some stuff...but yeah, i stumped as of this point...
i'm still trying for an engine swap...but i just don't know if it's a lost cause...

Mmm, it is sad to say it, but I think I would probably sell it.

Man that sucks.
Depending on how you are and your age, I would not get all sentimental about it being your first car and just sell it.
I mean it is kind of like finding a mate; you do not marry the first one unless it is right.
Anyways, sorry about that, man just curious did you drive it rough? I am still debating whether or not to get a 240SX. I heard of bad rumors like this effecting all Nissans.

Well, before you go selling the car, try making a somewhat detailed list of all the problems...and maybe some of us can help you out.
Sounds like a lot of fuel system related problems. The stalling at idle thing can be something as simple as a miserable old filter (like 5 dollars)
But i understand the first car thing...I had a z24 that i loved...my first car...and i managed to work all the bugs out of it through simple repairs. Finally got it restored to where i was happy. Some drunk lady rear ended me and totaled it a week later.
Anyways, post a list and I know me and some friends will try to help

In general, the 240sx is a very reliable car. I've had two, both over 100k miles (that isn't even a whole bunch). Had to replace the alternator and master cylinder on my first one. Had it for 30,000 miles and sold it to my sister, who's only expense has been a set of tires. My newer 240 I've had for 20k miles, driven pretty roughly, and it's still strong as ever at 130k. The rule with any car is fluids, change your oil regularly, change your oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, and flush your coolant system at t heir regular intervals and she'll last you a #### of a long time.
