I have a hard time taling about or thinking about what happened, but i wrecked my car tonight on a windy, small, two lane road. I was going way to fast on a turn and my car lost traction and broke out sideways and i flew off the road. It wouldnt have been so bad but the road went into a ditch so my car rolled over and stopped upside down at the bottom of the ditch. I had one other person in the car and it was a miracle that we both came out uninjured. The roof was squished up and my window wouldnt roll down but he got his down and we released our seatbelts and crawled out of his window. Some people came to make sure we were ok and called the police and emergency people to come and a tow truck came to get my car out of the ditch. I got my car for 800 dollars but put alot of money into it, it was a 1990. Im just so happy that we got out of a 70mph crash into a ditch without being harmed. Im so lucky that my life wasnt cut short. I dont think insurance will give me any money cuz i have the cheapest insurance there is, and i dont know if i should get a rear wheel drive car again. Im gonna go get my stereo stuff out of the car tomorrow, maybe ill take some pictures of the car. Just wanted to share this so it might inform some people who are not aware of the danger of rear wheel drive cars on high speed turns.

Beleive it or not... A friend of mine did the same thing late August with his '02 Spec-V..... FWD!
His accident was identical to yours... speed, road, flips, spectators,etc... Identical with an addition: He was DUI...
You live you learn... Be grateful! He wasn't... turned around bought an '02 WRX and is still driving stupid and up to no good. You figure after going thru something like that you may change your ways a bit.
However, Im happy for your health and time will heal the mental effect. You have a new chance at life (or something like that) so keep doing what you enjoy just a bit more careful eh!?:)

Important Lesson.
Don't stiff out on good tires! It's the most important part of the car!

True True...but also dont OVER-estimate your ability/skill by driving so damn fast on small windy roads. I mean unless you know that road like the back of your hand. Just progress gradually..and safely. Something similar happened to me!! No ditch but a curb. Almost ran into a house too! I am so glad my friends and I made it out alive.
Just learn from your mistakes...and from others!! Happy safe driving guys! ;)

I too am happy to hear that you're OK. Your car did exactly what it's supposed to, it sacrificed itself to save you in an accident.
There will always be other cars, but there's only one you, so I'm glad that you're not hurt.

I'm glad you're not hurt as well. But I hope you learned an important lesson. As someone said below you have to progress gradually and safely. You need to learn the limit of your car; and more important the limit of your current driving ability. It's all about precision. A rwd car isn't inherently dangerous. ANY car is dangerous when you push it way past its limits. Anyway good luck in the future and be safe!

I feel for you man but this sentence that you wrote makes no sense at all. This is just like saying, "I just wanted to let people know that if you drink alcohol you have a good chance of harming yourself." The fact is that it's all about self control and knowledge of your own driving abilities or in my example, tolerance. Something like that. Go get another 240 and be more careful man.

i dunno bout you, but i'd be more concerned with the fact that my friend's life wasn't cut short..if you had died at least you would have done it to yourself..if you killed you friend you'd have to live with that for the rest of your life..
for this reason alone i NEVER drive touge or anything other then a track, with proper safety equipment, with someone else in the car...it's just not worth it..you have no right to put someone elses life in danger...
my 2..
glad to hear you're ok...now strip that b!tch and start a new project..:D

Good thing you and your friend are fine, but give us more details, suspension, tires, speed limits. by the way a FWD car would've gone to the ditch faster than your 240sx. Even in a straight lane at high speed the wind will shake our cars, so driving fast through curves in those condition is too dangerous.

I just got back from the yard where its at. I took some pictures. I CAN NOT BELEIVE IT but ALL of my stereo stuff is just flat out gone. Over 800 dollars - my subs, amp, and deck. It got stolen in just one night and they kept saying a bunch of crap and said that junkies come by and always take stuff and he wrote everything i told him i had and he said he would tell the boss later today or tomorrow cuz the boss is out of town. They have a guard dog where my car was and since it only happened over night, i highly beleive that the tow truck people stole it. Is there anything i can do about this? Does it look like I should just junk my car and get a new one?

call the police..lol..and make sure you have either pictures or at least receipts...technically the tow yard is responsible for the safety of your vehicle while it is in their possesion on private property...so don't let them just say, sorry, not our responsibility..cause it is..

dammmmm....that happened to me too but I was a passenger in a MR-S going 120mph with bald tires... spinned twice and flipped in the air 3 times, landed on a lil 2 foot tree that held up the hood, if we didn't I guess I would have neck right now. As soon as the car spun out we both went into shock. When I woke up couldn't feel anything for while but blood flowing into my head upside down. I'm glad you came out alive and unharmed. My neck hurted a lil bit for a bout a week but thats bout it. Don't let this accident teach u not to ever drive/own a rear wheel drive car, but teach u to calm down when u drive. I learned my lesson from accidents and traffic tickets, insurance will kill you, I've switched to my 4th insurance company and I've only had my car for bout a year and 3 months now.

i crashed my 98 Honda Civic LX about a year ago at 120Mph. Did kinda the same thing, it was all stock but my insurance didnt cover it. So i got ****ed hardcore. I wasnt hurt that bad, no broken bones. Last time i do something stupid like that again. It wasnt that stupid cus there wasnt anyone around i could endanger but i was just driving way to fast. Especially for a stock Civic. Glad im alive. :D

kiss it goodbye...
and dont let up about the stolen stuff. Call every single day and get your money back or your stuff. They should have insurance against theft like that.

Yeah, im just gonna get a new 240sx, one that has power everything and maybe a sun roof and one above 1990 so its dual overhead. As for the stereo, i went to the highway patrol office and gave them the receipts for everything that is missing and theyre gonna call me tomorrow once they get a hold of the officer that was on the scene from yesterday. Only thing that sucks is everyday the car stays at the yard, its like 25 bucks. I was gonna just sing it over to them and let them junk it but the officer said the cops might need to look at the car first. So well see what happens tomorrow. I was hella shakin up last night and blamed it on the rear wheel drive, but i think i learned from this mistake and ill just take it easier on roads like that one. I guess you just gotta now you and your cars limit.

Dude, be glad you didn't end up having a situation like that BMW up in OC/LA area. I couldn't imagine having to live with that. Take it easier on your cars man...jail isnt worth hauling ass through a windy road...but I think you realize that now. Stay safe in your new 240 when you get it...

junk your old car. and don't get a sunroof. and if you're really going to jump in another rwd, go to a road course and get some hours driving with an instructor. i *really* think you need some driving theory. you'll come out a safer and faster driver. good luck with your stereo stuff.

Why shouldnt I get a sunroof? Is it more dangerous if the car flips or does it effect something?

Yeah, that has GOT to be it. One (or some) of the yard's employee's stripped the car.
Seriously. I wouldn't believe the "junkie" story for a second. Junkies are organized enough and determined enough to sneak into a yard on a regular basis, especially when there's a guard dog? Yeah, right. Seems pretty convenient that "junkies" were lucky enough to happen upon your car and it's stereo equipment the FIRST NIGHT it was in the yard. Don't stop screaming until you get paid for the stuff that the yard's workers decided to keep for themselves.
That's just adding insult to injury. Your car gets totalled and then the yard robs you? I'd be seriously pissed.

Dont blame RWD for your mistake. Any car can have its traction limits exceeded.

man please believe the junk yard workers ganked your stuff. my friend works at one he does it all the time. yeah because junkies always think sneaking into a junk yard is gonna find em really valuable stuff. bs, keep gettin on the junk yard about coughin up the money or the stuff. and yes junk yards do have insurence to cover that. sucks about your car though.

OK heres what happened. I taled to the owner today and she said she would cut down some of the costs on the bill and wouldnt charge it the 25 dollars a day it was there. She said she will give me a crappy jvc deck, an mtx audio amp, and two rockford fosgate punch 10s in a box to make up for my stolen stuff. I looked at it all and the deck is ok but its the crappy model jvc, the amp is mtx and i dont know how many watts it is. And the two subs in the box looks old and dusty. I would rather take that then walk away with nothing but its nothing compared to my brand new kicker comp cvrs with a kenwood 800 watt amp and an mp3 kenwood deck. Im seriously pissed at everything but id rather take that than walk away with nothing.

Don't accept dusty old junk as payment for superior stuff. That's the worthless garbage that even the "junkies" (short for junkyard employees...) didn't want, and she's trying to get you to take it so you'll leave her alone. Keep pressing, especially if you have receipts to prove that the stuff you had is worth much more than the big box o' crap she's offering.
I wouldn't want a JVC toaster...

First off, glad you and your passenger were ok, second, the owner is giving you all the old stereo stuff from their car they replaced with your nice stuff. Second, dont blame the RWD, I spun out a few times in my old integra which had 113hp, once because the rear tires were bald and the road was damp from a light rain, a few cars almost hit me and and right were I stopped a tow truck driver was loading up a Z32 that had just done the same thing, but hit the wall, I was very lucky. Like nitekids said, always have good tires!! and be careful in bad conditions and know you and your cars limits in all conditions. and because of tickets and one acident, I learned that I need to drive very safely on the public roads now. I cant wait for some track time tho! Live and learn

I reported the stuff that happened to my insurance today. I have the cheapest plan so im not gonna get any money or anything. The person just took all the information and said an adjuster will call me back. I basically said the car lost control going about 50mph and rolled into a ditch and that there were no injuries, no property damage, and not another car involved. Do you think my insurance will go up?
