I am rebuilding an intake manifold right now for a 97 S14 with a completely stock engine and my original idea was to keep and replace as necessary depending on pass/fail test all off the emissions equipment (to include vacuum lines and such). The original idea was just to achieve a smoother running vehicle. I had the injectors sent off to be cleaned, rebuilt and tested and the upper and lower plenum to be cleaned at a machine shop.... you get the idea.... anyways..... I started looking around and found different write ups on emissions delete, its pretty straight forward except the only thing i could find about any side effects was that you would add to the already rich condition of the KA, problem number one. problem number two i thought, was whether or not this flags a MIL, no one said anything about this. so i screened the FSM and as far as i can tell it will. I had found a write up where an individual added resistors rated at certain ohms to trick the ecu, but only for the egr circuit nothing for anything else. i was wondering if anyone knew whether or not i could add a resistor for each circuit or if (and this would be even better for me) if something like NISTUNE is able to ignore these system and not only wont flag a CEL.... wont even send the ecu to a fail safe condition. a tuning solution like this would be the best, because im working on a turbo system for the vehicle so i need to get one anyways, and the emissions needed to be deleted anyways and not to mention even with out forced induction the removals require the maps to be leaned out. i know this is very long but hopefully gives everyone an idea of what im after. if all else fails i have no problem leaving it all alone, but a cleaned up engine bay would be nice. thanks for any input you might have.

well i didnt receive answers from anyone. which is ok. upon researching tuning options for nissan via consult... i found a company called TunerCode (http://www.tunercode.com/).... which as far as i can tell is through the consult cable and then uses firmware to allow adjustments to base parameters in the ecu. here are the features given on their website:

TunerCode V5 Features:

High RPM tuning limit (8012.5 rpm) removed.
Choice of softcut or hard rev limits. (All other rev limits removed)
Softcut Speed Limit (Can be disabled or set for valet mode)
Launch Control
Injector Size parameter.
Uses only one fuel map.
Uses only one timing map.
Uses only one CLT enrichment table.
Enable/Disable Knock Analysis
Enable/Disable Closed Loop O2 Analysis
Enable/Disable Long Term Fuel Trim (self-learn)
Enable/Disable TPS fuel map load column contol
Enable/Disable EGR
Enable/Disable AIV
Enable/Disable O2 Sensor Heater
Enable/Disable A/C Compressor
Programmable A/C Compressor control
Programmable Radiator Fan control.
Enhanced Logging utilizing
Overboost rev limiter
Logging of all sensor data, fueling and timing parameters, knock, idle, and status information.
Map/Table Tracing for fuel and timing maps and all other tables.
Programmable Data Monitor Graphs
Programmable History Tables (Predefined knock, O2 sensor and MAF sensor tables)
Diagnostics Dash for TPS, idle, and timing adjustment
Tuning Tables/Parameters for:
Fuel/Timing Maps and Tables
Knock Control
Dwell
Startup fuel/timing
Accel Enrichment
TPS Enrichment
CLT Enrichment
Decel Fuel Reduction
Idle fuel/timing
Fuel Cut control
BLinker Utility allows export/import of tune data from current bin.
Share tunes with others using BLinker tct files.
New TunerCode V5 Optional Features:

Spark cut limiting, in addition to fuel cut limiting.
Set Launch uses throttle, tach, and gear shift to set launch rev limit
Programmable Outputs (for VVL, NOx, Fans, etc.)

many good things i see. especially an option for enabling and disabling egr which is what i was interested in. and the ability to do slight map adjustments. however i have failed to find any additional information about which ecu's this is compatible with as well as any hardware installation. so i have turned once again to zilvia, with hopes that someone has had any experience or even rumors, about the actual capabilities of this system. i am not looking for anything too crazy. just the ability to have the car leaned out slightly should i decide to remove the emissions. and to keep the check engine light off and the ecu away from fail safe.
a consult cable for 80 dollars is made and sold by ecutalk (http://www.nismotronic.com/consult-logging-cable/ecutalk/ecutalk-usb-consult-cable_01_10.php), and they have free software through usb to a computer (or pocket pc) to act like a consult system. once again its a 97 s14, with a ka. if someone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. if i happen to find something i will post it here just in case any one else was wondering.

well i got off duty this morning and decided to look into tunercode a bit more and found out that they only support a few ecu's

91-93 Nissan Sentra/SE-R/NX2000/Pulsar B13,N14,N15 SR20DE Manual
ECU Part Nos: 64Y00, 64Y01, 68C00, 1N960
TunerCodeID: 64Z

91-93 Infinity G20 P10 SR20DE Manual
ECU Part Nos: 62J00, 62J01, 77J00
TunerCodeID: 64Z

91-93 Nissan 240sx S13 SR20DET Manual
ECU Part Nos: 50F00, 50F01, 50F05
TunerCodeID: 50Z

91-94 Nissan 240sx S13 KA24DE Manual
ECU Part Nos: 53F00, 53F01
TunerCodeID: 53Z

Nissan Pulsar RNN14 SR20DET
ECU Part Nos: 54C00, 54C60
TunerCodeID: 54Z

(reference: about tunercode (http://www.tunercode.com/?page_id=5)

i checked the part numbers just incase....
JWT ecu p/n list (http://jimwolftechnology.com/wolfpdf/ECU-ID.PDF)

not compatible with my manual 97 ka. this is unfortunate. im still gonna verify with my actual ecu that the part number is correct (23710-81F00) just for wishful thinking sakes. still looking for something comparable to this though as i was very excited to find it..... only to find it doesnt match with me. though i am still going to email and ask, perhaps they have one or are working on one. still though.... anyone? just thought id add what i knew in case anyone found this in the future.

Got a reply from Dave at tuner code and here was his answer:

"Support for the stock OBD2 ECUs turned out to be so complex, I have decided to try to run OBD1 firmware (with modifications, of course) on the OBD2 hardware as a solution for the S14/B14 folks like yourself. I am currently developing a complete re-write of the OBD1 firmware to support stand-alone like features and programming, including MAF to MAP sensor conversion, and for the new Nissan realtime board being developed by Moates. When that is finished, the plan is to develop a real-time board for the OBD2 hardware, at which time I will develop TunerCode for that platform."

just run an enthalpy ecu with a wiring harness adapter. it'll run an s13 ecu in an s14 and throw no codes, no CELS. :)
