Hi everybody,
My name is Jimmy. I'm a performance parts specialist at Fontana Nissan in California. I'm kind of new to the forum world but not new to Nissan cars. Actually, I've been a fan of Nissan vehicles for quite some time and am currently on my fifth Nissan today that I use as my daily driver. In the past, I've owned three s13's and one s14 so I'm pretty familiar with the RWD layout. My current Nissan (P11 G20) is new terrain for me. I haven't been into FWD since my Honda days. After driving it for about 4 months now, I realized that this car could definitely use more power. Automatically, I figured I could fix my grandma-slow problem by simply opting for an sr20DET power-plant, a motor I am also familiar with from my s13/s14 days. However, I've discovered several slight differences in the FWD platform of this engine to the RWD and I'm still learning about the FWD SR as I go. Has anyone else here done a FWD SR swap? Any recommendations on what works and what doesn't in regards to mating engine and trans? How about engine selection? Avenir vs. Pulsar GTI-R?

your lucky you already have an SR
If you have the money, i say GTi-R SR20. and it is ALL plug-n-play. everything bolts right in even the ECU plugs right in. You would have to use your original P11 transmission unless you want to use a Sentra SPEC-V 6-speed which would include more custom fab.
another option which is JUST as easy but a lot better IMO is an SR20VE. while it doesnt make as much power as the DET(187 vs 230), it has VVL(think Honda i-VTEC) and you can get it over 230 by just using N1 pistons, cams, throttle body and i/h/e. Its also a LOT cheaper ($800 vs $2000 or so.)

or you can always drop in a VQ35 ;D its been done many times. just my 2 cents.
