Hey, I was wondering if you could give me some advice ? I have a horsepower goal from somewhere at 350-(450 after the motor is built up). I am wondering if you can suggest a turbo/motor work that will get me in that goal while still making the car a fully daily driver and having it be reliable as well. I am considering the gt 3040, the 2540 , t3/t4 (not sure what trims...too many to choose from, but probably similiar to the one at enjuku), and also the bigt28 from forced performance (i think its less of an options because of horsepower goals, I also thought about the disco potato turbo, but again horsepower goals.

I am wondering if you can give me an idea of the spool ups on these turbos ? I want to be able to use boost fairly like the stock t25 but possibly a little more lag. But i'd like relatively fast spool up because i commute and in the traffic i like a little more power right off the line. I know that you can always downshift to combat turbo lag, but not if ur just trying to daily drive. I want to rev to say 3-4 and shift and have the turbo kickin a little. Maybe you can suggest a different turbo i've not heard of ? and I'm very lost as far as motor work and costs ?

How much of a difference would a BB turbo make as far as spool up versus something like a 450 hp t3/t4?

I've done all my own work on my sr including install, heres my current list of mods, greddy rspl fmic, apex s-afcII, greddy profec b, 3 inch all the way no cat, hks megaflow w/ z32 maf.

Precision GT turbos, http://www.precisionte.com/products/products.php?view=robot&qcategory=Turbochargers&qtype=Sport+Compact+GT+Technology I can get you a good deal on precision if you are interested. They definately kick arse.

Not day and night but pretty damn close.

Apex, Blitz, Turbonetics, and HKS in no particular order are great places to start.

On the cheap side there is the good ol' T3 stage 3/TO4E 50 trim that are everywhere and only cost 500 bucks. For more money I would say go for a garrett GT35 with a 76mm compressor wheel.

As for spool up ball bearing helps turbos spool from off throttle more than it helps them spool from low rpm open throttle. Basicly makes them more responsive, but not really spool at a lower rpm. Nice thing to have but not a huge difference. Costs about 500 bucks more than a similar non ball bearing.

Disco potato: for low hp only, too small for your goals.
FP Big28: A little small for your application, but very easy to install.
HKS: Expensive but at least you can use with a T2X style flange.

are the higher hks gt3037s, 3040s, 32xxs, etc still a t2x flange? i always thought they were t2x flanges and then i saw precision turbos and the garett gt3040s, which are supposedly similar to hks gt series, use t3 flanges and are more like t3/t4 hybrids. so are they hks gt3xxx turbos t2x flagned or t3 flanged and are they considered t3/t4 hybrids or still t2/tx hybrids ie. gt2540 being a t2/t4?

T3/to4E is kinda silly, such a small turbine housing with such a large compressor wheel. Its gonna hurt volumetric efficiency. It would make more sense to see a straight T04b, maybe a T04E for the higher end of your power range.

Straight T4s generally suck for spool up on SRs. For a high powered street KA or a drag only SR maybe, but not neccessary for this level of power.

I'm pretty sure the non-S gt3037 is a t25 flange. Not sure about the rest of them, but I think its on the www.HKSUSA.com website.

Just cave in and get the Greddy T76 kit. You know you want too. Come on, addmit it. I know you were thinking about it.:boink:
Then again, maybe its just me.

Where do you come up with this :bs:

sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where he said "stock T25" and I thought it was for ka24de turbo.
