Oh dam I was talking about the slower indoor one lol
Never tried those shifter karts, heard they're fast

I've been to the kart track at VIR twice. Pretty fun. I got sideways on a downhill turn and still managed to set a pretty good lap.

Here in.local there is pole position and k1 speed. There indoor electric parts top.speed of like 50mph.
Really badass and I'm pretty good at them.

i've only done the indoor ones, but they're still super fun, especially when you go with a bunch of friends that actually understand how to drive. i need to go again soon. shit is addicting.

i had a little manco go kart when i was a kid, no roll cage, used to drive it up the sidewalk to my grade school and tear up the soccer field. probably the most reliable vehicle i've ever owned

i used to hit up adams kart track before they got into drifting.. used to go all the time.. none of that electric indoor kart stuff. but indoor kart can be cool when they use actual gas karts. I always try to improve my times.

There is a track close to me Apex Kart Racing (http://www.apexracing.com/) pretty clean track. They have an arrive and race but its more like a limited kart rental since its not like other places where you actually grid up to race.

Yeah the track I've gone to is indoor but its huge, they claim they got the biggest track in the usa, lap times up to 1 minute something. Their go karts hit 50mph and its fun when me and my friends go in groups.

Go Karting is fun. I'm hoping to get my son into shifter carts as soon as he can...like at age 3. lol.

We have a city in WI called Wisconsin Dells that has tons of amusement parks with go karts. Some huge tracks some small. A few years ago we went and there was one that you would get a trophy if you beat the lap record. On the second round I beat it on my second lap, and then beat that time on my 3rd, and that time on my 4th. Fucker wouldn't give me 3 trophy's though. But he gave us a good tip on a steak dinner. lol

That's the closest I've ever been to racing on a track haha. It's harder then I thought tho, finally knew why lines where important. I would go around corners hard and brake a bit sometimes but I couldn't for the love of god beat my friends lap time. He was going a bit more around the track so he was able to take turns faster then me since I was just hugging the corner wall from entry to exit

Which model?

I had a 5 horse version with turf tamers(if you ride quads you already know) and a seat bar extension/partial roll cage thing.

My neighbor eventually got the 9 horse, full roll cage version and although it handled much worse it was a monster in power.

lol idk how much power my kart had when it used to run but I managed to get it to about 85 in 6th gear pinned, the thing screamed. If only big heavy s13's were as easy to manage sideways as that nimble lil kart was.

You don't need to have a shifter kart to go fast, I've driven a world formula and it was quick. It takes years to get into a shifter kart.

deals vary and are kinda rare...but almost nothing comes free besides labor and travel. The checkbook still very much hurts :wtc:

Check out my old managers facility he runs, its great for beginners all the way to advanced drivers. They have arrive and drive racing if you don't have your own kart. CalSpeed Karting (http://calspeedkarting.com/)

Yeah I know what you mean, its like $80 for a grand prix 30 minute race

the track i go to is $20 a race (15 minutes), but if you buy 2 races you get one race free. i think it was $65 for the grand prix which included 15 minutes of practice, 15 minutes of qualifying, and then 30 minute race iirc

I normally go to gokart racer in burlingame.

If anyone is headed there, let me know and I'll see if something can be done for you. No guarantees.

I would like to get into high speed karting, but I would need to be able to tow/transport the kart, which I can't presently.

I would also need to get rid of a number of non-functional motorcycle bits before I'd have a place to store it.

Best bang for your buck looks to be Briggs and Statton world formula karting. I have raced these twice and they are decent fast 60+mph.

Indoor karting seems super expensive to me.

I could do a full day of open practice at Summit Point for $225-ish. I couldn't even buy a full day at Allsports indoor karting for that. Granted, the track day requires you to actually bring a car and provide fuel and tires, but it still seems out of whack.

I would like to buy a kart next year, if possible.

The point of racing to me is racing other people not time, which is why I'd like to get into a kart. Something that is purpose built to be raced not some 20year old vehicle that wasn't built for racing.

i remember when i worked at pole position raceway the karts get up to 40 mph, but not all karts are the same some are faster than others. the mechanics can program the CPU. you can change top speed/top end/ bottom end. so some karts had more torque and some picked up really fast on straight aways

there is also this black kart that claims to go 60mph

i wish i could have time to try real outdoor Karting

I use to work at dromo1 and the same crap, but we were gas and didn't have any programmable ecu's just carbs. We use to take off the air filters when we raced until it leaned out so much the motors started shitting out.

was it fun working there? When i work at P2R it was actually the funnest job i've ever had. i just left because the GM was preaching christianity and found ways to fire most of the employees which led to others including me to handle 3 different job positions (mechanic/supervisor/ race controller) and getting paid the same

mrchomponthis

It was fun until the manager started telling people we couldn't hang out, outside of work. But that didn't work out so well. The only real reason I bought a s13 was because one of the mechanic's told me about zilvia. Now I realize 240's aren't race cars. I am now looking into a 2 stroke 125cc tag fireball.

I just bought $200 worth of groupon tickets for a local indoor go kart place, so i guess ima be driving karts more often now.

Some places out there have special drift events where they put plastic rings around the rear tires to make them more slippery.

There was a kart track in vegas that would put baby powder down on the ground but it was too big of a mess. To get our track nice and sticky we would spray down used motor oil and after running on the track for 15min the track would be unbelievably sticky. The first 5 minutes were a bit dangerous though.
