Hello, I am in the beginning stages of another RB conversion, and need a mock up engine so I can fabricate a mount setup. Does anyone know if the mount locations and block dimensions are the same for the RB20, RB25, and RB26? I don't want to use a shiny new RB26 as a mock up motor, and blown RB20 and RB25's can be found cheap. Thanks for the help

I don't really understand. You are saying that you have a bare block? Why not just use that? Who cars if you scratch it a little no one is going to reem you out on that, Plus if you want to keep it clean and shinny be careful, wear gloves, have a clean engine bay. I just think it isn't smart to go and buy a blown block just for test fitting. Any how about the dimensions being the same, yes the RB25DET and RB20DET have the same points. At least it worked for me. But correct me if I am wrong the RB26DETT have different point. Don't hold me to it.

Sorry, I should have included more information. The motor is fully built, completed, and on an engine stand. I do not want to damage it in any way during the trial and error of fabricating engine mounts. My hopes were that the more readily available RB20 and RB25 blocks had the same dimensions, and motor mount holes as the RB26. I have seen conversion kits offered that can be used for any of the RB engines, which led me to believe the dimensions were similar.

Yeah that would make more sense that you don't want to use it as a test fit. I am sure they work the same as when you look at the RB25DET mount they always have the RB25/RB26 in brackets next to the title. Then again I used the dimensions off my buddies swapped RB20DET and made my own mounts for my RB25DET and just drill my own holes.

I am almost certain that the brackets that come off of the block are different, however my concern is where the holes in the block are. I may contact a manufacturer of one of the engine mount kits to verify. Thanks for the help

Oh, you are looking off the block, my bad! Then yes they are different, the ones that are bolted to the x-member are the same however.

Yeah, I want to know if I can bolt the RB26 engine mount brackets to an RB20/25, and accurately use it as a mock up motor.
