Offset for dummies is right! I guess I fall under that category. Here's my question. I purchased an s14 with some axis rims and didn't know any specs on them. So after researching I believe I found the specs. They are 19x8.5 + 35(f) and 19x9.5 +40. I want them to sit flush so I was gonna pick up some 20mm spacers for the front and 25mm for the rear. Will this cause any issues with rubbing the chasis or coilovers? And will the wheel studs even be long enough to put that big of a spacer on and bolt on the tire? Thanks in advance

wont rub on coilovers but might rub on chassis depending on how low you are. you're gonna need extended studs b/c stock wheel studs are too short even with a 10mm spacer. you can also get wheel spacers that have studs on them already.
if you do go with extended studs just make sure you use the right torque specs b/c they can snap while driving

if you get bolt on spacers ( the kind that have studs in them), the shortest that will clear the stock studs are 25mm.
If they are shorter then 25mm, the stock studs stick out past the spacer and hit the rim.
Bolt on spacers are usually cheaper then extended studs. (because if you do extended studs, you need to buy quality and quality lugs for em).
BTW, 25mm is about 1 inch,.
I run 38mm bolt ons in the front, and 50mm bolt ons in rear.

Will these work?
Wheel Spacer, bolt-on, 25 mm, 5-lug, pair [5065705] : Maximum Motorsports, the Latemodel Mustang Performance Suspension Leader! (http://www.maximummotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=48_134_232&products_id=872&zenid=cc9f3ced0b093a4159d8d759e85b9dbe)
Do I need hubcentric rings?
And I thought that normally the wider the rim the lower the offset but these are +35(f) and +40(r). Weird. So I should be fine to get a 25mm up front to make the fronts a final of +10 and a 30mm in the rear to make them a +10. is this correct and will I have an issues with stock fenders? I'll prob get them rolled just in case. Thanks again

im dogshit with offset stuff, lol.
so you need to figure that part out.
but those are the kinds of spacers.
make sure they are also nissan thread and size.
i dont have hubcentric.
you dont need em, and a lot of after market rims arent made for hubcentric anyways.
if your gonna be drifting anytime soon and changing rims, a good torque wrench would also be a great investment. and it will make sure everything is as tight as its supposed to be on those spacers.
I got mine from some place here in CA
forgot the name.
if your local, sidewayz performance in santa ana is who i went through.
mention my name if you go through them, you will get treated better.
(they have so many ricers come through there, they get a little burnt)

ichiba and H&R are already hubcentric bolt on spacers. i would just go with those two and yes you're right about your calculations with your offset. that'll make it +10 front and rear. I'm running BBS rs wheels 16x7.5 front 16x8.5 rear +14 offset and it was rubbing like a mofo in the rear. had to roll and pull. the front was flush i just rolled the fenders to be safe.

offset works like this. in the middle of the rim....if the mounting spot is toward the face, it's positive Xmm (measure from the middle to the mounting position). If its toward the back, it's -Xmm (again...it's measured from the middle.) Usually each wheel has about .5 inches of back pad. so take away 50mm from that offset. You could always measure the width, measure the backspacing in inches, and websites have that sizing available to translate offset.

Thank you guys for all your help. I appreciate the informative responses. I ordered a set of project kics 20mm and a set of 35mm from MVP motorsports today. The 25mm were on back order for 2 months and can't wait that long. We'll see how it works out. Thanks again guys

Personally, I would have sold the rims, kept the money I would have spent on spacers, and used the money on getting better sized wheels. You can find good sized used wheels for less than $1k. Hell, you can get good sized, knock off/no name wheels that doesnt look bad for $500 shipped.
