A few days ago it was really hard to get into and out of 1st and 2nd gear. It did that for a day or two and it went away magically so I didn't think much of it.
I drove the car for a good 150 mile trip before I shut it off on Friday. I went to drive it Saturday morning and it wouldn't go into 3rd, 4th, or 5th. I stopped the car and kept trying to put it into gear, well it finally went into 3rd & 4th but now I can't get into 5th anymore.
The transmission use to grind 3rd gear but I never had any problems with 5th gear, how or what would cause it to just completely go out and not let me go into that gear (5th)?
Let me know guys, I'm sick of driving around in 4th gear, I have a 100+ mile drive to get home tomorrow.

im having a similar problem but my transmission will grind when i press the clutch in(without putting it in gear) and ill have a hard time getting it into a gear. i usually pump the clutch and eventually it goes away...it does it most the time in the morning when i first start my car. ive replaced my cmc and slave. my thoughts on this are
1. my throw out bearing is going out. or
2. the splines/forks on my pressure plate are getting too worn out.
any feedback on this matter would help.

sounds like you need to pull down your tranny and see
regardless of what strangers opinions may be
should have been tracking down a tranny or rebuild kit after third started grinding

Mano,
you bring up a good point but the opinions of strangers is what I need at the moment because I DO NOT want to take off the transmission if I don't have too.

There's only so much you can do before you have to drop the transmission. If you are having a hard time to get into ALL gears all of a sudden, I'd check some stuff out. But just the fact that it does it on certain gears, I'd say the transmission is toast.

Thanks for the response Flip.
I'm gonna bleed the system out when I get home and if that doesn't do anything I guess I'm gonna have to pull the transmission out. The last time I pulled a transmission out it was a big failure.

Well, I'd change the oil to some amsoil and see if that saves it. If it doesnt, its gonna be a waste of $30-35. Adjust the clutch pedal engagement point, it might be off too. But from the sound of it, tranny is probably just done.

Im having a similair situation..just mine is stuck in fifth gear. I tore down my SR tranny to find that my fifth gear shift fork broke and was wedged behind one of my sliders. I would pull the transmission off, break her open and check for play on your shifter fork rods for respective gears. Could be a bad syncro too. Hate to be the bearer of bad news. Sounds like you need to get a little dirty to figure this one out bro. Good luck and be safe while doing this job.

Had this problem with mine to, few times i felt as if i was going to break the shift lever trying to put it into gear so bad.Had to do something sitting on a hill looking at five cars behind me but ill look into finding out the problem this weekend. I have two back up tranny's in case this one decides to break on me. Thanks for the advice

Alright a little update on this never ending transmission problem.
I dropped the transmission and put a known good transmission in. Put it together to find out it wont go into gears whenn the motor is running but goes into gear fine when the car is off. Bought a new slave and master cylinder, bled and it still wont go in to gear.
What could possibly be wrong? Someone suggested it could be my pressure plate. Could I run a Exedy stage 1 pressure plate with my 6 puck Spec clutch and would it hopd the same amount of power? If so I guess I'm gonna drop the transmission again and replace the pressure plate.
My car's been down for two months.. Any suggestions guys?

1. Bleed the clutch;
2. Check clutch pedal adjustement;
3. Check for leak.

I've bled the clutch several times. How should I adjust the pedal? Right now it feels like its where it should be.

No suggestion guys? I'm thinking it has to be something I didn't replace yet like the pressure plate, clutch, etc...
My question is, could a pressure plate just stop working like so? And could I throw on a Exedy stage 1 pressure plate with my Spec 6 puck (stage 3) clutch?

I forgot to update this thread but I swapped out the clutch and put in a new clutch kit and it solved the problem. My guess is my pressure plate went bad because the clutch still looks good and the springs on it are still tight/snugged (the way it's suppose to be).
