This is the third SVT Cobra my 240 has beaten. I think it would have been a better race had the guy known how
to drive. But, a win is a win.

Him:
R/T: .694
60: 2.4
1/8: [email protected]
1/4: [email protected]

Me:
R/T: .565
60: 2.014

1/4: [email protected]

I was running 13psi of boost and street tires. Here is a shiety video shot by a friend of mine using my Cannon Elph, it sucks, but hey... enjoy.

I went to the track a couple of weeks ago and ran a 14.7 at 101mph with a 2.7 60' (14 PSI)
So I have a few questions for you:
1. What tire pressures are you running
2. Do you slip 1st to keep traction
3. Have you dyno'd your setup

As you can see I need help and your setup seems similar to mine so your help would be appreciated

um, what year cobra. I used to own a 98 cobra, can safely say that my sr equipt s14 is just a quick if not quicker. But my buddy has a 03 cobra (and a 03 lightning:boink: ) and there is no why I could keep up with that thing, not in a straight anyway.

1. I haven't messed around with tire pressure much. I dropped my street tires from 30 to 25 psi for the track and found slightly better traction. I might go another 5 psi lower some other if I can't get a good launch. The track (new england dragway) coats the inside lane on Wednesdays, so I always try to run in that lane.

2. I have an act street clutch and an S13 LSD (from pdm-racing - they rock :) If I can get traction, I Usually just dump the clucth at 3500 - 3800 rpm. It barks the tires a couple of times and takes off. Any hight than that on my tires and it is just wheel spin.

3. I haven't dyno'd my car yet, I'm still messing with the boost controller, but I'm going to soon.

let me just gauge opinions...would you rather drive a SVT cobra or a 240SX thats as fast as one?

hard choice for me, 2 cars i adore.

Vatche

obviously i would choose the 240, it just makes more sense, u cant really do much with a cobra other then rev your v8 at people haha. jk no hate just love

hmm i whould rather have a turbo stang. roll up to that light... big turbo backwashed exaust rumbling than it revs... and the blow off valve sounds and scares mr D16 turbo civic. no replacement for displacement except a turbo.. add the two together... what fun.

Are you guys really comparing a mustang to a 240? These are to totally different cars... there is no comparison!

So what did the people in the state of Mass think of your car? I''m sure over there there are not much 240SX enthusiests and people there prolly wondered what the hell you had in your car and was surprized it was RWD too.

Why don't you go look up what the actual gas mileage of a COBRA is, and then check back with us and let us know how that goes for you.

4-cyl sr will get better gas mileage than a ford v8, no doubt.

not bad rednerd.. pretty dope video, good quality too for a small camera.

ps: who wants to drive a FORD? seriously, they're the macdonalds of the automotive industry..

This is where a mod should step in and tell everyone:

"Okay, let's not start the 240SX vs. Mustang and/or Import vs. Domestic bull****."

All else eqaul, I would rather own a 1 or 2JZGTE powered SC300. Maybe a turbocharged (rare) 1UZFE powered SC400.

:-D

I took the liberty of actually looking it up to prove my point.

Mustang Cobra (http://www.autotrader.com/research/compare/inc/car_comparison.jtmpl?show=specs&vehicle_number2=&restype=used&vehicle_number1=U16225&ac_afflt=none)

Nissan 240SX (and this is the SOHC) (http://www.autotrader.com/research/model_info/modelinfo_overview.jtmpl?year=1989&make=420&model=240SX&vehicle_number=U6414&restype=used&x=52&y=13)

Hmm, 17/26 vs 20/26, and the 17/26 car will leave you in the dust. This also applies for those of you running stock SRs (as this is a stock vs stock comparison).

And even modded, you are looking at a challenge provided that the driver isn't as terrible as the one who drove the particular Cobra in this thread.

Point is, please stop talking **** about a car when you clearly have no ****ing idea what you're talking about.

How many of you have even driven a Mustang?

I've driven a few....I still like my 240 more though. Props on beating it. To whoever said he doesn't know how to launch....go tell the Mustang guy that.:D
