I think he means power shifting and it's not a good idea to do it regularly ::think of the tranny man...the tranny:::D
If you don't match the revs perfectly it will put unecessary stress on the gears and eventually start eating away at the teeth

By WOT shifing do you mean not letting off the throttle while shifting gears, yet still using the clutch?
I'd think it's just bad for your clutch, no real gains unless your turbo and you want to keep it spooled up. But you should shift fast enough so revs don't drop much anyway.
People come up with the weirdest ****....and give it confusing names.

Not sure how its done, but basically Wide Open Throttle shifting. - flooring it the entire time?
Wide Open throttle shifting is about as simple as the name gets

How you do it is keep the car floored and blip the clutch enough to get it out of gear and shove it into the next gear.
Or just yank it out and shove it in
My wife and my tranny both disagree with this method

just get a short shifter, and learn how to shift really fast, wtf do u need to destroy your drivtrain for
You all need to look into
ZeroShift
That will be the new shifter/tranny for all... Best of the best..
Why settle with the F1's slow 0.06 shift times when you can shift at 0.00 Yes thats right... NO power loss at all.. Flawless shift times.

I've read somewhere that powershifting a turbo car is a very good way t bend/break the shaft on your turbo....
You know how much stress that must be?

not worth ANYTHING you "think" you are gaining by it..it's like people manual shifting their Autos...not worth it!..

I've found that shifting all the way on power is damn near impossible, I always had to lift off the trottle for a SECOND to get it in gear without the clutch... None of that mattered when I got the ACT and B&M, the shifts were that much better and faster, even with the powershift. Besides, I would think it to be dangerous to the tranny to shift without the clutch as stated before, so I never did it much at all...

i still insist the 240 has a gearbox that doesnt like to be rushed compared to anything else standard Ive ever driven.
chirping your tires doesnt mean anything anyhow...any car can do that. My old Imark would do that, now if you can light the tires up when you let the clutch out in the 2 - 3 shift...well thats impressive

shifting an auto is ONLY useful if you are in the canyons and want to keep control of your RPMs. That is the ONLY benefit of shifting an auto, no power benefits.

We always called it "speed shifting" and it is an art. Corvettes in 1994 came with a video to show you how to do it properly. With skill, it can shave considerable time off of a quarter mile time. (up to 1/2 second, maybe a shade more).
As far as the tranny goes, it is the CLUTCH that catches the most hell. Proper speedshifting is only very rough on the tranny if you either miss a gear or are not skilled at it. You must be fast, because you are allowing for a very very short time, your engine to be wide open.. in a no load condition. With proper RPM training and unlimited clutch replacement funds, it is the maximum acceleration potential. Of course it opens you up to making mistakes and damaging your entire drive line more rapidly.

not to mention overrevving badly if you miss a gear;)

Spank the cobra is a great example of speedshifting. He did it and did it right

without seeing his feet I dont think you can say he did anything one way or the other.
You can still hear the bov, the car lurches when he shifts. That does not indicate anything abnormal.
If you are that hard up for whatever minimal gains there are to be had (if any) from power shifting then I imagine you shouldn't be worried about the costs it may inccur on your damaged tranny or clutch.
Worry more about your 60 foot time
