Ok, I’m going to ask you guy's sense your pretty much all experienced in tunning 240SX ,not to say that I wouldnt know how to tune the car myself, but I rather have advice because I worked hard part time for this money, and I don’t want it to go to waste on junk I may not need, this is why I want to ask you guy's if you can put yourself in my shoes for a minute, Ok I just bought a 240SX 89 XE Coupe, with a really crappy SOHC KA motor... For $400.00
Now I have saved up over $2300 working part time over the summer, but most of that money went on this new computer w/ the help of parents. Now I am left with $1800.00 What mod's would you do with this amount, now look here, I’m on a low budget cause once this money is gone, I will not be making much a week, maybe around $120.00 still working part time. I really want mod's like TIEN HE, brake upgrades, even though this car will be used on the street, I don’t MIND getting it ready for the future. So here’s how its going down.
$400 240SX Chassi ( Keep in mind, engine NEEDS replacement )
$1800 Worth of mod & new engine money.
What would you do? Please list the prices of mods along with the reason you would reference them to me.
THANK YOU in advance, for your time.

budget upgrades and engine improvement:
swap in a KA24DE (91 and up..get as late model as you can...97/98 is preferreable)
coilovers..get the HEs if you want
brakes:
DONT NEED Z BRAKES THATS BLING!
you will do a-ok with:
new rotors (blank)
ss brake lines
upgraded brake pads
better brake fluid
do the swap and work yourself and u wont spend much money.
the coilovers will cost more then the engien haha
but do the brakes and engine first
also get new tires for the brakes and you'll improve braking significantly
coilovers should be last. they arent necessary but are definatel nice. but great suspension and horrble stopping power is pointless.

Very true, thanks for the advice, how much do u think some decent tires will cost? or should i just go with some used tires? 50 bucks each?

tires are expensive new no doubt
i say es100s new..wow so nice but..
depends on the tires of course if they are used. if really new but used..its good
if old and crappy and hard and used..then dont waste the money

Good call on the DE
Might be worth pointing towards the CA18DET if we are talking engine swaps. Of course this is all assuming that you can do the swap yourself or have friends that can guide you through. That will just about destroy your budget though. Sorry.
I would also keep in mind that your budget will come up a little if you can manage to sell the Ka24e for a decent price. Or part it out. You never know. One mans trash....
If your engine will hold on for a while I would recommend suspension tuning first OR, just fix everything else you can find wrong with the car. You know, leaking door seals and things of that nature.

Honestly get an LSD before the coilovers. I wish I would have done it that way. However now I have both and it rocks.

only if he wants to drift it though...if not then i would get suspension first...he wont notice a VLSD driving around the streets..he will notice the cornering and looks of suspension though...
but if going for drift i agree!..LSD is money..makes a beginner feel super good about themselves..lol..
then i would do sway bars if you can't afford coilovers...reduce body roll and assist in predictable weight transfer...
again this is if you want to drift..

Keep in mind that he said that a new engine would be a priority.
Keep your eyes on the for sale forum, people do their SR swaps and just give away their engines. There was a KA24DE in there from DC earlier. I don't know if it has been taken yet.
