4 channel amps

Ok, I am doing a mild system in my car, I am going to get some MB quart componets, but I still need a amp for them, the only thing is, its been awhile since I've read up on amps and such, and I was curious if someone could recomend a really good 4 channel amp, I just want really clean pure sound while ai commute to school and work. So if anyone knows of good amps and recomends them please let me know! I have kinda researched the bigger name brands, but I know there are alot of good amp companies out there that are small and dont get alot of press even if they are better. Thanks!!!

The Zapco 360 or the Arc Audio 4050 are both very solid amps. They'll run you about 500 bucks.

u dont need a 4 chanel amp, 2 will be plenty, bridge front speakers , bridge rear so total 2 channels. another amp for the sub of your choice. 4channel amps not worth it in my opinion cost/perfomance ineficcient.

... Are you sure you want MB?? have you gone to an audio store and tested ALL the speakers with YOUR music...

MB is good... But not the best... To me the tweeters were to tinny.

You should go to a store man... Build a system talk to them about it...

Rockford deck with 95w Orion 6.5's all the way aroud and 2 Pioneer subs 10in Duel voice coil 700w each with a 800w X-plode 4 channel powering the sub... All inside speakers run off the deck which puts out 40w a channel...

I can only turn it up to 14 of 30... any more and your ears start to hurt and the base will kill your brain... I have put it all the way at 30 and my system sounds awsome... no distortion (sp). Total was like $1500 or so... (I am looking into a sub capasiter (sp)) The system will take my system from a strong 13.5 volts to right below 12 after about 40-50 mins of volume 14-18 use (and yes my whole power system in new)

Anyways thats what I think.... BTW you only need a Mono AMP for the subs... I happen to get the 4 channel for a good deal. And run 4 gauge wire to the Sub... Dont let them install that small ****!

Thanks, I have heard the MB's in my coworkers car, they sound awesome I like em, I want to use an amp because you get cleaner sound with the higher end stuff, and I dont want to waste my money on good speakers if I'm going to underpower them from the deck, so i need a 4 channel amp, I'm pretty picky and yes I kno to run 4 guage wire this isnt my first system, I had two systems in my previous integra, and I have shown alot of my friends how to install. I got a nakamichi headunit that has 24 bit DAC unlike most other headunits have 1 or 2 bit DAC, so i need good speakers and a good amp to match the quality of my headunit. I'm not doing a sub right now, maybe someday, but I'm saving for a separate track car right now so I'm saving the money. my friend is going to give me a decent amp for now untill I find something better, then I will just switch them out, also, where can I buy some of these amps? Thanks for all the replies and suggestions!! :D

Check out Street Noyz by the Sports Arena. They work on Ferraris and Benzes and stuff so they should do a pretty good job for you. I was just there earlier today pricing some replacement parts for my system.

you can go with an alpine V12 series amp for the components that's what i have now it works really well. Alpine is really high quality stuff.

what no one seemed to mention, is that sound is subjective, what sounds good to me may not sound good to you. mb quarts are known for incredible sound quality, and yes they may sound tinny to some people.
anyways, speakers make the noise, amps dont( for the most part) if your looking for an amp, look at the wattage. i mean rms, not that useless peak crap. also, check and find out at what voltage the amps were rated at, most are between 12.5 and 14.4. if your car, for example, is running a constant 13.0 volts, why buy an amp that isnt efficient untill 14.4?

and then there are power supplies. they can be either regulated or unregulated, where wattage output is directly related to voltage input


if youre looking for an amo, fore go all the amps online that say **** like "4000w WOW MAN" its garbage

i assume that since your asking for help on a forum, your most likely not going to be installing your own equipment. go to local shops and play with what they have, bring your own source material of what you listen to.

finaly a thread where I have something to contribute. I searched long and hard for the right set up for the right price. If you are looking for sound quality you must start with the deck and work your way back. the most important part of the deck is the signal to noise ratio. over a 100 is good after that the human ear wont pick up on much. next the amp must be of the same or better signal to noise or it negates your head unit. I went with a profile california series. less than a hundred dollars and has impeckable sound. second in our cars you only need the front speakers for high and mids the rear don't ad much to your system but alot of extra money and effort. lastly run your sub seperate so you dont get distortion from the amount of power it is drawing and always use a cap. with out one not only will your subs not perform for you but it will also blow your alternator, battery and most likely shorten the life of your amp and sub/subs. Sounds like a pitch I'd get at Circuit City. Blow your alternator? Don't need rear speakers in our cars? Who the hell told you that?

hes right about the deck, also cap will smouth things out. although in a hatch i dont see why you want rear speakers anyway, although in s14 its a diff story. you DO want 2 diff amps like i said before, 1 for speakers, 1 for bass. 2 channel on both is perfect.

When I first learned that the rear speakers were not needed I was driving an s13, it supposedly is a trick that delsols use in sound competitons. So I figured it would work in the s13 and it did. I know drive and s14 and to me at least it sounds better to have 2 infinity kappa component sets up front rather than all around. By the way the reason that the cap saves your alternator and battery is that when ever your amp goes to push power to your subs it has to draw that power from somewhere and that somewhere is your battery and then your alternator. neither of which were made to have this much power drawn from them. thats why your head lights amd stereo dim. but the cap will fix all the dimming becouse when in heavy use with large amounts of base the cap will supply the extra power needed to run the amp and not your battery.

general misconseption - cap is not an extra battery (i know it even looks like one), its just takes the charge and smoothes out the output. this way u dont draw too much power from your system. i had 2 alternators die before over a period of 1 year each because of no cap in the stereo system.;)

same here, I have had alternators die in just about every car that I had had before I was turned on to caps.

I've got the Kicker KX800.4 4 channel amp in my car.

It powers a Cerwin-Vega 6.5" + 1.0" tweeter component set, a pair of Orion XTR6MB 6" midbass drivers and an Orion XTR3 12" sub (soon to be replaced with an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 10" sub). Sounds great, no distorsion and it's pretty loud. I'd recommend it anytime.

Hey guys, if you want a really good sounding setup...im talking about quality sound and none of that boom boom bass crap all the kids have. You should look into Infinity. I have infinity co-axles in the front and infinity components in the back...along with an inifinty bass-link 10". It is a bit pricey for all of this but it is well worth the money. Ive had alot of systems from cerwin vega to polk and none of them can even touch infinity. I highly recommend this setup to any of you and another plus is that you dont have to go and buy an amp just to push all this.

Thanks for all of the replies, I am installing my stereo myself, always have and always will, heard too many horror stories and seen too many people get shady installs. Like I said this is about great sound, not boom boom sound, I am leaving the rear speakers stock for now as I have a rear strut bar which I'm too lazy to take out untill I blow those speakers or if it bugs me that they arnt sounding as good. I'm getting a MB quart Q series speakers for a really good price, from the guy I got my headunit from, they are the 2003 models, so huge discount over 2004 models. Like I said earlier I have a brand new nakamichi cd-400 headunit which is the best sounding headunit I have ever heard. It sounds clearer with the stock speakers than my friends setup, pioneer p8000 headunit, pioneer digital EQ, fosgate 800a4 amp and boston rally componets all around. use an alpine deck and alpine 4 channel amp with the mb's
my father has a benz with 11 speakers fosgate 5 1/4 x 4 and mb quartz 5 1/4 x2 and alpine tweeters x4 and one fosgate 8 inch sub with 2 alpine v series amps and it is the clearest tightest punchiest system i have ever heard,,,oh yeah and alpine receiver too
