that is iEATrice's car..he's running Cusco Comp Zer 2R and runs on 18's...we didnt lower his car because of that fact, so just left it at whatever height it was....

its on my car now and am lower than iEATrice :p almost the same suspension setup as him, Cusco Comp Zero 2 and a slew of other miscellaneous suspension parts.....also take note that the tires are stretched, 215-40-17 for front, 235-40-17 for rear

see i dunno if i'm looking for the right wheel, i was really looking for a dished type setup, like these...

but everytime i see wat's they're not dished enough for my likes and i don't want polished lip, moreso the all bronze look. i'm not putting down ANYONE elses wheels, this is just what i'd prefer to find, how much am i even looking at with wheels like those?

well...I know Watanabe has those in magnisium for sale. They are not called RS8s though. I think they run like $400 a wheel.

i believe the wheels on that skyline are Wat F8's. could be wrong.

ok so scratch those, as sexy as they are i cannot dump more than $1000 in track wheels. what about something like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43954&item=2436499469) in a 15x6"-8" size with 5 lug? is that a rare find or something? i would like that much lip or more.

umm, those are 14 x6 please don't put those on a nice S14, plus its far too skinny for a track wheel, you will be better off with another stock set

a 6" wide wheel wrapped in azenis i'm sure would outperform my stockers with ziex 512s anyday, therefore i'm wanting another set that also has a little bit of style to it.

Sorry for misreading your first post and all, and not to get completely off topic...

You are 5 lug right? you want a track wheel? why not take the extra cash that would go into paying for that JDM style, and just get a real wheel like Mustang Wheels (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43957&item=2436345653) prob the same price as 15x7 wheels from japan, but 17x8!

style:rolleyes:

ack dood your way off
17 compared w/ 15
do we have to start this conversion? for a all out track car and depending on a variety of factors, i woudl more likely be taking a 15 or 16" over a 17

actually i was selling 4 5 lug 15x7 for 550 recently---and they were JDM TYTE YO! SSR Reverse mesh!

mustang wheels are more iirc

iirc, ricky chu's car had them and it look like CRAP
for the wats, no luck. its not common. your more likely to find mesh (ssr or big mesh styles) on s14

57c..hmm cardomain

In my perfect world I would go with a lightweight 16"

lets see here, you were selling 15x7 wheels for $550, which seems to be a fair price for mesh wheels nowadays. Those Mustang wheels would weigh slightly more, but have a wider contact patch, less sidewall flex, better brake clearance, and not to mention $250 less

I may be all alone in this, but if I were 5 lug, I don't think JDM price gouging would seem very attractive to me.

link me up with these mustang wheels
which year which mode size and offset please

tire for the stang wheels are more
rotational mass (if you ever put 17s on your car you'll understand very well how much it affects performance)

for a budget racer those are HUGE factors. especially on lowspeed tight courses (for the latter)
and on a racer budget w/o big bucks sticky high quality tires in 17s will run 150-200 dollars EACH!

There was a ebay link in my first post about it, but reading is overrated:coolugh:

Could prob find em cheaper in some Mustang classifieds.

Yes tires will be much more expensive about $50 per for Azenis, thats the main drawback I see. but the point still remains that over $500 for a used set of 15s is ridiculous when there are other options available.

Dousan_PG
10-09-2003, 11:58 AM
i know we agree rennen
but i find it funny people are so "oh you shouldnt get jdm usdm is just as good" and push that SO MUCH
its just bull. some people can afford it and like it more. not a matter of 'its better' or 'anti-usdm'
its style and preference really.

there are ALWAYS other options. but some people have a certain style or preference they like. its not your place to knock that. your telling him 'oh dont get that' did he ASK for your opinion if there is another choice? no. so stfu. he wanted a wheel of that same style in certain size.

i dont usually check hyperlinks here at work. so that's why i didnt know.

also ill use sykikchimp as an example. the dood bought those nismos. not cheap (shipping and wait time on top of that). 17x8 +35 w/ 215/45 rear: 17x9 +38 215/45. of course, he could have bought mustang for much cheaper. why didnt he? STYLE bling..its PERSONAL perference. he even had to go 5 lug to use them! that's hardcore! im SURE he could have found 17x8 or 9s in 4 lug if he wanted, but he didnt. style. preference. USER CHOICES
(i know the 5 ulg wasnt planned, it was originally thought they were 4 lug--but instead of selling them, he went balls out)
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34819&highlight=nismo

edit:
and most (not all) of the time the people who knock the JDM bling (various parts from engines to wheels to body parts etc) are the ones who cant afford it.

funny how that works out. hm.

Rennen
10-09-2003, 12:16 PM
Oh, yeah, I will be the first to admit that I am poor, and that is exactly why I don't like JDM bling. If I had tons of $, it would probably be dropped into fancy shiny things from japan without questioning why. But since I don't have huge sums of $ I try to be a good consumer, and see what I get out of each product, as most poor people do in all walks of life.

I agree with you 100% on wheels, it is the #1 style upgrade to a car and really sets the tone, but it pains me to see that people get caught up in one style so much that they can't see the other options. My orig post was not as much directed at Johny5, who obviously wants watanabes, but to all the people reading this and forming their opinions on how their cars should look. I was trying to present an alternative option, I was in no way telling anyone what or what not to get.

#1 rule: Your car=Your decision, do what You want.

now thats enough post whoring from me, I have driven this topic far enough off.

i can see where you got the idea that i'm strictly 100% goign for looks jdm blah blah blah but dude, these wheels are frickin cheap and light. my other set of track wheels to-be are the 4 v6 15x7 stang wheels sitting in my garage, i'll never knock em, they were free and just need some azenis or something on em, good to go ya know? yeah, they look frickin STUPID, and thats why i wanted some with a) a little more style and b) a little less weight. on top of that, have you heard the abuse watanabes can take? i've seen so many pics with wrecked ass cars and the wheels survived. of course theres always only so much a wheel can take, but these are definitely a bit more durable than what i've seen in my short time of working on my 240.
