The answers for which you seek are within this link haha.

Jim Wolf Technology website (http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/tech_details.asp)

Go down to the "cam install instructions for ka24de."

Yeah the cam lobes for cyl 1 need to be pointing away from eachother.
I don't think you did it right. Your exhaust cam is way off. line up the chain with the dimples on the sprockets.

i have been messing with mine alot lately and found they have to be 180 degrees apart.. almost perfectly flat facing opposite directions away from the center.. i wouldnt worry soo much about the 8 links.. that didnt work for my car.. wouldnt run at 8 links.. but i also have a 248/232 setup.. but deff 180 apart..

thats what mine did when i had the cams wrong.. adjusted a bit more and voalaa runs great now.. just kinda slow.. i think its still a bit off.. but runs smooth.. alsow make sure you turn it over by hand before you crank it just to make sure you dont bend valves..

+1 on turning by hand. I've bent valves on my new swap because I didn't check cam timing. I hit it with the starter and there went my exhaust side valves. Ended up buying a new head. Make sure you don't mess up. I was coming from rotaries so I didn't have to worry about any of that lol.
