My LHD to RHD build

Not much info to go along with it. I decided to stop my Rb25 build and go into this RHD business..... All the work was done by me up until the welding. It took a bit to get this done due to my hectic work schedule, school, and good ol typical Florida weather. Total time including the welding @ Raw Brokerage =6 months. It's my first build thread so take it easy on me. :dblthumb:

Day 1 = 6hours total.. Started to remove the seam sealer from car and clip. I marked all the spot welds that needs to be removed with a purple sharpie.

Day 6 = 8 1/2 hours. Removed windshield (which I had almost completely removed until I sneezed and cracked it. lol) and started plasma cutting my car (got sick seeing how many more spot welds and all the metal I had to remove :eek: , so cue in the plasma cutter :woot:)

next step starting saturday... Redoing the wiring. Instead of shoving the fuse box under the dash like a lot of cars I've seen done on forums, I am going to place the box in the back half of the car and run the wiring from there. I'll post pics once I get that done. (shit ton of cutting, soldering, and heat shrinks)

What was your reasoning for wanting to convert to RHD? Not trying to be an asshole just generally curious because I drive a RHD car and the only reason for owning one up here at least is because they are generally cheaper than their USDM counterpart(JDM FD's and MK4 supra's are almost always cheaper than LHD ones) and the fact most of them have the better engines than the USDM version. Having a RHD car up here is already enough reason for some cops to decide that they should pull you over but I couldn't imagine how much hassle you would get in the US where RHD cars are a lot less common.

This is great but are you leaving your ebrake on the left side? I remember my 300 zx having the ebrake on the right side and it being weird to reach for on the opposite side.

I am keeping ebrake there , going to install a hydroebrake on the right side. Using hydro ebrake as a primary ebrake shortens the lifespan of seals and such

I feel you on the wiring taking absolutely forever! I didn't want to put my fuse box under the dash either so I relocated it behind the seats. My ecu is where the passenger airbag used to be. I redid my entire harness, removing a bunch of unneeded stuff.

I figured it would be smart to keep the engine harness separate and the wiring as short as possible. I like where you put the fuse box. I should have put mine there but im not about to do it all over again lol.

I drove a imported S13 Silvia for a little while in the states. I hated it, couldn't see shit to pass people. Drive through's are no longer convenient. Merging on the highway. There are many situations that will piss you off, even if you leave out the police hassle, but more power to you!

J-tin, doing the spot weld remover, you save more surface metal by going spot weld remover. Grind down the excess metal and you are good to go.. I just plasma cutted my daily firewall cause I got tired of those motherfucking welds on that mother fucking firewall lololol

just cutting out sections, to me, is half assing it.. you gotta cut out areas for pedals, close off others, ac stuff doesnt match up so you gotta cut and cover here and there. Before you know it you got a swiss cheese slab of metal you are using for a firewall lol. If you are going to do something this extensive, do it the first time and call it a day.

I wanted a clean look for the lines that are being ran from power steering cooler to the reservoir so I went ahead and cut out 2 holes to rune the lines through.

I just need to finish wiring the Ka f3plug from usdm to match Jdm interior harness.. I will be posting a help post shortly showing which cables I need help finding out where they go to the JDM F4 plug once this is done, refill fluids and start it up...HOPEFULLY! lol

Everything is in place for this one. I ended up with a free shell to use for a "track car". So I sourced another 25 and have been playing with that one. I am only missing a few parts to get the RHD one driving. It'll be my daily.

I am needing: Driveshaft, Wiring specialties harness, custom piping for air to water intercooler, ecu, tucked rad, and a hood.

I'll post more pics up on the rhd one once I get these parts in next month.

Im no electrical engineer, but damn i would not want to diagnose that mess. I would shy away from electrical tape, and maybe go for some adhesive lined shrink wrap.

Otherwise looks like i could use this as a diy if i decide to go rhd! :s101:

For mine I was able to move the fusebox to the trunk access hole without adding any wire, if you de loom the engine bay harness and cut the necessary wires that go to the fuse box in the drivers wheel well you can reroute all your wires back through the car and end up with the fusebox color correct wiring inside the car, just solder and heatshrink it all back up

The wires just make it back to that spot, actually works out as a nice still accessible location for the fuse box.

I ended up going a different route with the harness. Instead of tucking it back in where Nissansota has it, I sourced a S14 Jdm uncut dash and engine harness. Fuse box is in the factory position, I am going air-to-water intercooler so the battery and fuse box can stay in the factory location.

Had I stayed with the original idea, I would've definitely went back to the drawing boards and got actual colored wiring to match.

anyways, I always end up having to go back in for the items they forgot to read off the list that's in front of them, now you just give retards a reason to make sure they don't fuck your order up because they think you're too awesome.
- Merging on the highway, pssshshhhh, just get on doing mach Jesus, the sheep will move, they always do. Shit most of them will swerve and flip their cars off the road to avoid hitting a rabbit or squirrel, and they think they were smart in doing it too.
- Making the cop walk all the way around to the other side of your car and
stand in the weeds/mud/etc. to give you that ticket, fuck him anyway right?

This is where I am at now! Finally got the entire piping system done. Stainless steel everything aside of the intercooler charge pipe.

From Cold side. Piping was routed inbetween the inlet and outlet of the chase bay's tucked radiator. Water barrell tucked under.

So due to some unfortunate life events, this project had to be sidelined for a while; due to having to be a grown up and take care of my little girl, as a single father.

But I have been able to get ahead and now be able to get this project back on track.

Engine = rb25 could potentially be sold, pending Ricky from raw's plan of attack. Either take the existing 25 and stroke it to a 28, or just go with a Rb30.

Shell is currently getting the tube and tubs done by the new and awesome fellas @ Fab Factory. As soon as it is done, it'll go to the paint booth to finally get completely painted, while awaiting the new greddy Rocket Bunny v2 s14 kit coming in the next few months. I am back on track and will be posting as I progress.

Currently as it sits, using 1 -3/4 .120 chromoly tubing, 16g sheet metal and the obvious trailer tubs.

Next up: Getting the front end and the rest of the car primered and prepped for painting. Going to wait for the Rocket Bunny V2 kit to come out so I know what and where to do the fender tabs and headlight brackets.

All my suspension parts and such that have been sitting in boxes for the past year will now start finding its way onto the car. Not going to say I am getting close to the finish line, but everything is finally coming together.

It will fit, you just will have some crappy looking openings for pedals on the wrong side and some random holes for the dead pedal and bla bla bla.

Just go to stockinteriors.com and get a premolded carpet, just cut out where you need to cut out and call it a day.

Or just keep hunting forsale or hit up these jdm companies to see if they will part with one, from one of their clips.

On that note, slow progress is better than NO progress. Here is the heart of the car. Rb30det. Bottom to top built, next up are the add ons. Hp goals 650-750 hp. Motor is being built by the awesome fellas at Raw Brokerage!
