The problem with some of these comic-book movies (and I'll throw Transformers 2 in there too) is that they try to appeal to everyone, in every genre, at once and they end up failing to do just one thing right in the storyline.

If you want to be the summer-stoner-comedy movie, ok, go with that. If you want to be a kick-ass action movie, go with that, but if you try to be that and a romance comedy and a sci-fi movie you end up with a fucking mess. There are very few directors that can pull that off, but every director thinks he can be that guy. :rolleyes:

Dark Night -> Stuck to being a serious Action-Drama. Just one thing, they focused on that angle/direction and did well. They weren't caught up in doing cheesy comedy like Iron Man 2, Transformers 2, Green Hornet, etc.

John Stewart is a bad ass green lantern, i enjoyed him a lot in the justice league animated series and justice league unlimited series. There is a reason why he is selected for the justice league animated films rather than Hal Jordan. You probably have to go brush up and read up on the story of the green lanterns to find out as i do not know.

As far as the movie goes, i think it looks pretty good, seems to be on track with the story line. Cant tell for sure until you actually go see the movie. I do agree that watching the trailer some things do look a bit cheesy.

I enjoyed the animated film "Green lanterns first flight", cant wait until the second film comes out, "green lantern Emerald Knights".
