so, as of recently i've noticed her looking for 240s, we're looking for a 3rd vehicle, we have my s13, 06 armada, and she wanted a vw golf or ek hatch, back on subject saw her looking for a 240 and i was thinking of doing a basic rebuild to the ka (if we get another one) and doing a small t25 or t28 set up. a super charger set up with an xterra sc, or maybe just a basic sr swap. what do you guys think will be the best bang for buck? ninja edit::: she has to keep ps/ac

Ka-T in an S14 chassis.

I would get her a S14 SE or a nice S13 Coupe and do a SR swap in either, maybe bolt ons and a spring/strut combo or coilovers. Keep it simple and effective.

Either way, she sounds like a keeper!

You ain't lying. If my girlfriend/wife was starting to get interested in cars, I'd recommend her tons of other cars before a 240, like an MR2, S2000 or SC400 or something nicer.

Pretty much this.

My moms car is faster/more reliable than my 240

I don't know what you guys are doing to your cars to make them so unreliable, other than an alternator going bad, I haven't had any of my cars leave me stranded or even break in the last ten years of having an S-chassis as my means of transportation.

As for the OP's wife, I don't know her, but if she is looking for something to enjoy and to be comfortable too, you might want to make her drive yours for a few weeks as her only car and then see if she still wants one. My gf loved my cars when we got together, then her Honda got hit at an intersection and she's had to drive my cars for the last two years, and now shes begging for me to get her something more comfortable.

Haha your response was like roid rage, and I think he is just stating that a woman would like something a bit classier and easier to drive.
chill braah

First of all. Chill. You'll have a heart attack if you react to every small thing like that. I'm on this forum cause I love my car, but I'm not going to act like there aren't any better choices out there.

Back on the subject

I think a SR swap would be good.

Edit:nevermind

People, SR swaps are not bang for the buck. $2800 later and you have a stock motor in your car???? I'm not here to say KA is better than SR or vice versa I'm just saying money wise, its a good chunk of change to end up with a stock motor. A small, simple turbo kit on the KA would be the most budget friendly, but only because the OP said he was going to freshen up the KA anyway.

My edit was about that actually.
I just went with personal preference
(I would choose a stock SR over building then boosting a KA)

Turbo the KA, done deal. If it blows you get a replacement used engine for $200. Every shop can work on it so if she going somewhere and she has to pull to a shop they can work on it and not stand there looking at the SR not knowing what to do.

I'm not sure about Louisiana laws for smog laws but keep the KA if you are cheap and a rebuilt one can withstand boost for years if done right. Good luck with her S chasis, I agree S14 Koukis are sexy but so are some Coupe S13s. Find one already built so you save some money.

bye bye money

Clean KA s14 with body mods..Atleast that way she can have a 240 that doesnt look like a beat up 20yr old car. I love s13s but would i like to be 25+ years old driving it as my only car? NO.

thx for opinion guys, i was leaning towards an s14 kouki and staying with the KA simply due to the fact that ac is so much easier to keep.. dont have to worry about her getting to into modding the car cuz she hates how 1 much it costs and 2 she thinks it makes it unreliable or the SR anyways (even though she popped my motor the first time)

im still laughing about the "roid rage" comment lol.... Anyways, I def think it's best she drives yours around... My girl hates riding in my 240 because it's so stiff, there's no AC and the 2JZ heating your legs up doesn't help much either.. If she's stuck on a 240 though a S14 Kouki w/ decent miles and a clean interior with some comfortable springs and a nice stance with wheels won't look bad... Hell I wish my girl could appreciate a nice stance, she just doesn't get it lol

they think the coilover ride is the car being rickety

lol my GF imported a 180sx from Japan.

anyways on topic, I agree with getting a s14 kouki but I'd leave it bone stock powertain wise. Just make sure you get one in nice shape, put some nice wheels on and lower it comfortably and she'll be set.

if she wants a 240 get here a 240 (any of her choosing) let her know the deal and such about the car and keep it stock-ish even if its SR or not.

My girl drives a trailblazer ls with a fat pioneer system in it that makes my balls hurt when she turns the subs up out of the negative. Romps off road, 10k hids, and its COMFORTABLE. Perfect chick car. Plus I enjoy driving it.

My wife drives a zenki s14. She loves 240s. This is her 4th one. I'm glad she does, because they are so easy to work on. My s13 is modded and she does not want to even lower hers

get her a s14 se dropped on some soft spring rate coils like tanabe or tein basics and some mb battles make car look nice and flush with some tint and put bolt ons that stock ka so u wont have any turbo or sr issues . and u can pass smog hahah

sorry to bump an old thread but heres an update on the situation, wife decided against an S chassis, in fact she made me get rid of my armada (so im forced to daily my s13) and buy a kia forte =/ her reasoning is its better on gas and it can still tow around the kids, she got me on gas mileage but my armada was able to tow around the kids and everybody else in the neighborhood with room to spare (still heated about her making me get rid of my armada)
