Anyway I'll post my shots when I get home because I'm on my phone.

I shoot with a Nikon D60 with the kit lense. I also have a 55-200mm f/4.5 and a 35mm f/1.8.

Its alright with photos.
The newer technology is better then my D200.
The video mode is sooooo shitty, and thats what i bought it for.

I mean how many $1700 video cameras out there shoot better video AND do quality photos AND have interchangeable lenses, etc etc?

Just saying I don't think saying it's sooooo shitty compared to what you are used to is accurate. IMO at least.

End the smallest pan seems to be an issue.
Look at the tree line in the next drift video you see.

It can help i guess, but i bet it also does some negatives to some of the footage as well.
the real solution needs to be figured out in camera.
First DSLR to do thats gonna do really well :)

If anything, its another nail in the coffin for Mac, lol.
Adobe CS5 is awesome and more and more Mac/final cut pro users are making the transition. (and saving money, lol)

On the topic of video (catching people up in this thread that might not know for the other) here is a video that was shot with 5D, 7D, and 60D.

Audio isn't perfect but it won't be an issue on the next vid. Which is scheduled for the 23rd btw. :bigok: The next place we're doing is giving me(us) full access, kitchen, cooks, interviews, etc etc. I'm hoping it turns out even more like a TV show.

Yea I love my old Canon AE-1. I almost traded it in the other using Canon's CPL program but I decided to keep her. Its so nice shooting film everyone once a while. Plus when you roll upto a flickr meet with one the stares and dumb questions are priceless.

Thanks. I have a Sigma 10-20mm, Nikon 28mm 2.8, Nikon 50mm 1.8, Nikon 85mm 1.8, and a Nikon 70-300mm 4.5-5.6. I'd like to sell most of them and get a 17-55mm 2.8. I hate switching lenses all the time and have to carry a huge backpack everywhere.

Nah, it's a tiny bit raked. We had it even when we put the coils on but it rubbed too much, so we raised it a tiny bit. We're going to re-roll and lower again, haha. And yes, Fin's truck is ridiculous.

Your vignetting/saturation/contrast seem quite strong for color photos.

The Napoleon one is ok because grayscale photos benefit greatly from higher contrast.

I have a ton of these old cameras on a shelf for decoration... never thought of trying them out. You may have inspired me!

Light leak on this one is the issue. I have got some images through, though they are fucked.

And they don't make film this size either anymore. I just tape one end of a 35mm roll onto the take-up spool, put the roll into the space for the old film roll, and close the back. I measured how many cranks clear the roll through the 7"film plane.

And I use a light meter to figure out all the rest. Need to try some more when I have a minute.

It's pretty cool knowing your the first one to get an image through it in like 80 plus years :)

What pc/mac setups are you guys using for editing? Currently Im using an HP with an amd phenom quad core/8gb ram with a built in graphics card. Ive been highly considering picking up a new i5 or i7 imac to go with my macbookpro. Do you guys think the imac will even be a step up performance wise for me? Im really in need of a better ips monitor and the imacs are pretty much a cinema screen and a computer in one. My desktop space is also very limited right now, thus another reason why Im considering it.

Is the i7 even worth the extra 200.00 over the i5? I really only batch process like 2x a month and mainly just use cs5 and after effects for mild video work.

Shoot I did last week for a client who makes these art bikes.

I was pleased with the results. He wants to do another one soon. Oh and the only PS involved was to fix the reflections of some cars parked on the street in the window.

What lense do you guys recommend for shooting models, like photo shoots and stuff?

First thing's first. What body do you have, and what's your budget?

Camera lens selection is entirely dependent on the situation.

It's not enough to just think of the subject you're shooting. You should think more along the lines of what the environment is going to be, and what you need the lens to do for you.

Do you need a "fast" lens for low light situations? Indoor? Outdoor? Fast autofocus? What type of modeling? Runway? Editorial?

That said, there's no *one* lens that's going to be ideal for all model shoots.

P.S. I've had successful model/fashion shoots of all kinds using a mix of the following:
40D + Tokina 11-16 2.8, canon 24-70 2.8L, 50 1.8
5DMK2 + 16-35 2.8L, 24-70 2.8L, 50 1.8
Rebel XT + 18-55 kit lens, 50 1.8

I see what youre saying, right now i have a t2i with the 18-55 and 50mm 1.8. My budget for another lense would be around 500-700. As far of the environment I have no idea, a friend wants to make a portfolio and I want do something "professional".

Don't go blow 500 bucks on a lens because you think you need to in order to get professional photos. You should purchase gear when your abilities outgrow what your gear currently limits you to. It's also a good idea to know specifically why you're buying a certain lens. You should ask yourself "what is the new lens going to do for you, that your current lenses can't?"

Since this is your first shoot working with a "model" it will be a learning experience for the both of you, so you should treat it as such.

Most the car shots usually consist of atleast 5 or so strobed shots put together. Most of the time I'll shoot with 1 strobe instead of multiple since you are given more control.
