so i have the engine in and all hooked up. I want to run duel flex a lite puller fans. I have an after market rad. I was wondering if anyone could post up a few pics that is also running aftermarket rad and duel pullers.
specifically i would like some shots of the core support area, the bottome of the rad showing how it sits and how it is attached, and the wire harness possition that is orig from under the core support
any pics will be of great help. Thank you.

From what I understand you are barely going to have room for pullers (depending on what mounts used). I am doing the same swap and I am going to do pushers installed in front of the a/c condenser.

i forgot to mention that i am doing an rb20det swap with mkinny mounts. I want to tuck the rad under or put it where the coresupport is.
should be plenty of room even for a clutch fan that way... so duel efans should be no problem.

Check out sileighty 85 build thread lots of usefull information there. BTW chase bays makes a radiator that fits under core support but it cost serious$$$

nice, thx ill check it out. I actually already cut part of my core support. but was thinking of just removing it and replacing with a custom peice.

In my opinion there are way too many easier ways to attain the same end result rather than cutting your support

Agreed, thats all that ppl would do with their S14's when running an A/M Rad with puller fans.
I did some measurements and was able to fit an A/C condenser and Pusher FAL's in front of the rad without touching the upper Core Support.

Might be diff on an S13 but if your not gonna have A/C in it I dont think it would have been a problem

Thx for the great pics im going to use some of ur ideas for mounting the intercooler for sure!
My thinking was that because it gets in the 130 F here that pullers would be better at keeping my engine cool. I may just be over thinking it a bit though. I also had to remove the support below the core support because of damage to the weild. I could have it rewielded in but was planing on getting a peice made that was basic and alot shorter to do the same job. that would allow the rad to sit under the core and give me tons of room. so im kinda half way there as far as tucking it under. IDK!! lol
any opinions as far as what cools more? puller or pusher? or experience in DD in 120 F ish ?

I got an N1 Pump, Nismo Thermo, Koyo Rad, FAL Pushers with a DIF PWM fan controller my temps are stable at 80*C fans only running at 20%

and this is even on the hotest days? That is the kind of info i was looking for. thank you. I may have to rethink my plan.
wish i didnt make those cuts into the core support lol :bash:

Not sure yet, Its only been running since the winter, but on a few fairly hot days it was still at 80*C with the fans at low duty cycle

There are currently two threads about this now but I'll post the answer here too. I've got 2 pushers on the condenser and adding a 3rd pictured below in a S13.

dang that is a tight fit. nice work!
I have been told though that have pushers and pullers creates heat pockets and is actually worse then just sticking to either puller/pusher

you shouldnt need 3 fans.
just get a nismo thermo, FAL's and the DIF PWM FC and you shouldnt have any issues

Sileighty 85 what size FAL's did you end up using? I noticed on their site they have several options.

I agree it is overkill.

i honestly think that 3 fans is not over kill but woul actually affect the other fans to make them perform less.

If you already cut the support you might as well do a vmount set-up, lol. No but really post some pics so we can give you ideas of what would be the best way to run e-fans

I dont know what the lower support is called but it was all messed up on one end and so we removed it. It can still be re weilded, I was thinking of getting a lower profile piece of steel put here and bent into an L to conect across and to attach the front brackets ( forget name they attach to the tension rods) and have the rad sit on

left and right side of frame that you can see where orig support was attached and where the possible new support will go
the next pics are where we were thinking of placing everthing. pls know that everything is jsut sitting there is not 100% final as well as all the elecrtical cords are just haning till i know final placement. also I still would need to drill holes out for the two rad parts that stick straight up. and do some major filing of the piping cut.

dont judge me on my very dirty engine bay and also know that I have been working with very limited tools.
Thanks for any advice.

also the 4th pic that shows the saggin lower brackets. the driver side one needs to be replaced cuz it is bent. and it is not even bolted to the frame ( thx person i bought it from ;D). also the tension rod is slightly bent too so they both need to be replaced.
My goal is to get this thing good to daily drive to work for now. I am in the USMC so I am limited on supplies and funds atm. I am getting out and moving back to WA where I will be rebuilding the engine and hopfuly making this a tack car (if all goes well). I have access to alot of tools and skilled people in WA. But only access to a person who can weild on base here lol.

Looks like you got it already just run a puller fan and you will be fine. You don't have a condenser blocking your radiator so you will have less restricted air flow, less likely to have cooling issues.

actually it is not really ready. I dont have the piece that goes under the rad and conects between the frame. for it to work i need to get a piece of metal cut, bent and weilded to conect between the frame.
also I need to buy some duel flex a lite fans... I am talking to some one right now about buying his used ones, but he is being slow about it. I hope it is worth the wait but idk.

How are people getting their clutch fans in there without cutting the support? i didnt see a lot, but i saw a few pics with a clutch fan and no cutting. HOW? At the moment i'm using just an AC fan as a pusher, I will be installing altima pusher fans in the future, more than enough to cool it.

yah man i have no clue. Maybee its cuz im using motor mounts or something idk!! at least my engine sits lower. honestly there is no room for any real puller or clutch fan if i dont cut core support.

this actually might be the way to go for now.
Like I said befor this is just to get it good for daily driving to work. I plan on chaning everything soon anyways.
how much did u pay for your cheepo ebay fans?

I think 45 for them both, shipped.
I can squeeze the one between the engine and rad, and the other sits on the opposite side pushing.

i think i might just grab 2 12" and make them both pullers. I have no idea how to do the wiring for this stuff so that will be interesting.

I highly Recommend the DIF PWM Fan Controller. Although its a little expensive
Or if you seach around Ive posted a pic on how to wire up fan relays correctly.
