View Full Version : Stumbling, from a new angle-MAFS filter adaptor?

We talked about stumbling not long ago but nothing made mine go away.
I was changing my exhaust manifold gasket today and I took my mafs and filter off and realized something.
My mafs adaptor is significantly smaller than the size of my maf, and where it is smaller is right where the maf takes in air for the sensor.
ERM, this could definitely cause stumbling and a lack of fuel, right?
if it wasn't properly metering all the air going in, it stands to reason that it wouldn't be giving enough fuel.
Anyway where can I get a KA24E adaptor that actually fits???

ya think?
as far as a MAF adaptor for an E, check eBay.

yeah the thing is, thats where I got the one I have now. And it obviously sucks, and as far as I can tell the problem is that the mafs intake is larger than 3" but the filters intake is 3" and there is no taper, the maf adaptor is too short.
What the heck is everyone else running?

I thought that was my problem, but then I got on ebay and got one that had the same size opening as the mafs, and it still didn't change the problem. It did it even when I had stock intake.

I pulled mine off and the engine ran 110% percent better... I found a way to flip it so the maf can sample air better and now my car is like, a million times better.

Redline, did you change you fuel filter? It causes the same thing and its commonly overlooked.
