Looking for a direct replacement rear diff for my 89 240sx, I dont need a expensive 1.5, 2 or a cheap welded diff! This is not a race car, drifter, its just my weekend toy that will be driven every few weeks. SO im wondering what if any OEM nissan rear diffs will bolt up...? Thanks for the help

Just swap in a 180sx diff or an S15 helical.

The S15 one is only found in S15 cars that were not sold in the US. Get a stock one out of a HICAS equiped s13 and that should be very easy. Also the R32 Skyline ones are easy to find and cheap to but you nay need to get axles also. Here is a link to a few good references:

How good are the 180sx diffs?

obx makes a helical diff which i would only assume is the same as the s15 diff. minus the fact that the speed sensor isnt built into the obx unit like it is in the s15 diff

Its a damn VLSD...what makes you think a VLSD that was designed to handle no more than 250hp handle 800hp? Besides, VLSDs fucking suck donkey balls from the get go if you want to do anything with it other than daily drive. You want to get shit done with a VLS, get that shit shimmed. Itll act like a welded diff but wont be as aggressive (well depending how thick of shims you install into it).

I had a vlsd on my car for a few months, and I too agree that it sucks. my car was still peg-leg, like the original open diff before it. I currently have a nismo 1.5way lsd and its by far best upgrade I did for the car.
