I have never seen this before and did a search, nothing came up.

I am trying to get the driver side rear brake caliper back in and the piston won't go in! It's spinning but not going in. Had no other problem with the other side. I have been cranking on it for like 20 minutes and according to my measuring tape it hasnt budged. Its about 5/8ths of an inch out still and won't fit over the new brake pads!

wtf! never had this problem before and this isn't my first time at the rodeo. it wasn't hard to start spinning back in and isn't too easy either. Feels just right...

I thought maybe the piston is came out but its too far in to be out.. i think

try getting something to compress it while you turn it and see if that works?

your probably going to have to rebuild the caliper or replace it. it sounds like its seized except it spins which is weird... but if your having that much trouble compressing it then there's most likely something wrong with it anyways and if i were you id replace it. because having a rear caliper lock up on you is no fun lol.

Caliper more likely than not needs to be replaced, happened on s0ap's convertible, needed a new caliper

had kinda the same problem myself ended up pulling out the piston and and gave it a GOOD clean and regreased and replaced the boot cause it was ripped i also think theres a o-ring that needs to be replaced too, but yeah after a good cleaning everthing was cherry, i used a c-clamp and slowly pushed the piston back in place.

I just loosened the bleeder and used my "big azz" channel locks to compress while I spun it with another pair of channel locks and it worked great.

I think that the piston popped out because the e brake line was snagged on the subframe from when I put my spl inserts in. So I think that tugged the ebrake cable enough to just barely pop the piston out.
