Ok well I am back to let everyone know that the 1996 Nissan 240sx with the RB26DET engine is no longer around. We lost our best friend early this morning about 4:45am-5:00am. What happened was Karl (the owner) and Holli (his gf) were bring the car home on a trailer from Hot Import Nights and Karl lost control of the trailer. At the show the car won BEST NISSAN VOTED BY NISSAN. Both Karl and Holli are ok also which is the best.

You really should reword that. When you say you lost your best friend you had me thinking that Karl and Holli died.

Wow that really sucks, after all that babying youd never expect it to go out like that.

Is the engine still good though, or did the damage get to it, its hard to tell in the pic.

Anyways, sad to see another 240 gone, and especially one like that, congrats on winning the show though.

Atleast it only was a show car though. It was not any ones daily driver or acually find the thing on a track representing for 240SXs. Just sitting pretty at Hot Import Nights. Cool little car none the less. :wtc:

as much as i hate the massive amounts of carbon fiber-glass on that car, and its "lill gt-r" nickname.. its still sad to hear the bad news with the accident. I've had a similar situation happen to a few of my customers, they're tire(s) blew on the way to a show and the car got tossed around inside the trailor and all messed up. Insurance doesnt cover it unless they have special insurance.. it ends up being a really big bummer, one hell of a loss of time and money.

Sorry to hear the bad news, glad to hear they are okay and even won the show to boot.

Wow, that sucks man, sorry to see such a thing happen. It was a very nicely done car, The front of the kit wasnt my taste, but I still give you a lot of props on a job well done.

I dont know if you remember,I came up to you at the show and said hey. I came up and asked if it was your car, and had told you I had seen it here on Zilvia, and told you good job on a well done car.

again sorry to see a loss of so much work. I am glad to see that nobody was injured in the accident.

I think he actually planned on doing a little bit of both, but never really got the car running in top shape to make it out to any tracks.

And now will never have a chance.

Man...I found someone died in an accident. I'm glad they are okay (for the most part). It sucks to lose a nice car like that...but it would be even worse to lose a life.

It was not just a show car there Chief he drove it to work took it out on the town a couple nights and he did have plans to take it to a track and see what she could do but we will never know now,

He does have insurance on the car so that is good.

There maybe parts going on sale

The engine seems fine but the only thing that I would see being wrong with it would be the oil pan.

yeah i guess it rolled 3.5 times and landed on the roof. I would just have hated to be Karl i guess he seen the car go off the trailer and roll. Watching ur car that you did all the work to and then watching it get destroyed. I am glad that i wasnt there. If i was there i would have been broke down in tears and cried but then again i could have been like dude slow the trailer down its gettin crazy and then that wont have happened all i know is that if Karl doesnt get another 240 and start over i will understand but i think i will try to pick up were he left off with it if he doesnt in honor of LIL GTR so i guess my new plans are to

and swap a RB26DET in it

Ive spent over 7 years slaving on my car, spending money on it, blah blah blah...

...you know what I always tell msyelf? If it EVER gets scratched, dinged, smashed, stolen, or explodes.. I dont care. Why? Because everything MATERIAL can be replaced, I could give a **** about the car. What CANT be replaced, is me.. and the skills I've acquired from the constant work and dedication. Those skills are part of me, and I would be more than happy to get another car to work on and keep perfecting my skills, as a car enthusiast.

Hearing someone talk about a car as if its a person, makes me sick. Its a piece of metal, its purely material.. and treating it like anything else is just wrong.. its a sickness.

You should be proud of your car, your work, but it just trips me out when people catch feelings over scrap. Afterall, our cars started off as "raw material" -- what makes you think they wont end up that way again one day? We all have to face the same end.. the key is to have fun and enjoy our time here, and cherish the good times.

I see your point Mike but some people really really like thier cars. Regardless of its state, its yours. I mean I doubt anyone is gonna slit thier wrists cuz they lost thier car, but it is thier personal propert, and when you lose something that is yours, you will get mad.

Some things are a lot more important, and in his case, he did everything himself obviously with a little help, but after putting so much time planning and fixing that car you can't just let it go by brushing your shoulder off.

But I guess different strokes for different folks.

The parts are probley going to be pretty highly priced cuz they are all quality parts like name brand and they have only been in the car for 8 months so just hold up and i will post something as soon as i am told to

I just think that people fail to see the BIG picture sometimes, like LIFE. A car is a car, sure you can spend tons of time AND money on it, but it is never anything REAL. A person, a life.. that is real.

I was very lucky to learn this lesson at a very young age, before I even had a car. My friend had his beautiful 1986 VW Golf GTI broken into, it was a show car. We just came out of the movies and my friend was really bummped. Some poor homeless guy came by, took a look at what happened and said "hey man, dont feel bad.. atleast you have your health."

When you think about the more important things in life, you realize how insignificant material objects are. That is why I work on my own car, because I cherish the skills that I've acquired, not so much the work. Everytime I finish a project, I very much know I could have done it better.. and always want to do another one, or re-do it, etc.. just keep perfecting it.

So.. maybe thats why I am so cold-hearted when it comes to this shiet. Its fun, I get my kicks off it.. but I dont really care what happens in the long run, as long as I am happy and healthy. I have friends who do not even have the luxury of WALKING, let alone driving. When you know people in situations like that, you kinda reconsider what you "appreciate."

im sorry but itr was far from a show car. yes it looked nice but an estimated 600hp is not a show car to me. idk what it looks like!! the only reason there are no numbers for it yet is cause he was still working out the bugs and didnt have time to finish tuning it. to tell u the truth i am insulted by those calling it a show car because it was much much more. as the only other person besides Karl, the owner, to drive it i can tell u it had balls. i could feel them in every tap of the accelorator. they sent chills up my spine.

There are usually 3 types of cars. Show cars, street cars, and track cars. Most cars are a mix of 2. If the thing was being trailered to a show, then it is most likely a show car that saw a little time on the street. Dyno and show car are NOT mutually exclusive. In fact, most dyno queens ARE show cars.

You guys shouldn't sell the motor. You should leave it in your bedroom so you can touch it more. :rolleyes:

sorry to hear about the car. seemed like an interesting project w/some future potential.

bottom line here is this. You need to be grateful that the two people in the truck weren't hurt. The car can and probably will be replaced. When it comes down to it, its just a car. Cars can be replaced people can't.

I'd have to go with Mike and Ruf on this one as well. Never get emotionally attached to a car. After all its and object.

The best example I could think of is JDM RICE #1 as it hit the concrete base of the light pole. Yes it hurt to watch that happen, but at least Richard was driving it like it should have been driven..

That was a show and track car. took away quite a few awards at shows, yet was taken to the track all the time.

within 2 days Richard acquired a new chassis and began transferring things over. JDM RICE II is already complete and running.

OK I use to feel like my car was my life. If I wrecked it I didn't know what I would do. Moved on and realized what everyone is saying. It's just a car.
