Is it just me or do they lose shit like crazy? I have return labels on every singe thing that goes out from envelopes to shipping tubes. Of the 3 or 4 things that never make it to customers in a month I have never gotten a returned item.

i work for a company that ships a lot using USPS. i actually ordered some stamps from the USPS store online for my company and they still haven't delivered it even with delivery confirmation! i had to complain to them and then finally after 3 weeks, they admitted, 'yeah, you're most likely not going to get it so we'll ship you a new set with signature confirmation this time to ensure that you'll get it'.

so i would recommend at least getting a signature confirmation. delivery confirmation just doesn't cut it anymore.

Yep. Only ship with them when absolutely necessary. Otherwise, I stick with Fed Ex.

I used to ship alot with them.. the trick is covering your shipping labels with clear packing tape.. lots of it.. their machines eat labels.. then they give up... don't be surprised if something shows up like 4 months later..

What service do you use? It seems anything priority or signature confirmation is fine. Regular stamped mail and small packages is where the problem is.

I almost always ship with priority. It's pretty cheap and my customers are always impressed.

When I used to sell stickers here, I would just use regular mail and still never had a problem.

I shipped this box over to a member in France.

Returned to me over 2 months later like this:

The point made about the packing tape over labels can't be stressed enough. I use to work Logistics for a shop and we shipped out hundreds of things. From parts to payments to stickers. You have got to protect the label. If you ever take a tour of a sorting facility you will understand why. The amount of spinning mechanisms that mail travels through is ridiculous. When we first changed to USPS from UPS, we has some smaller things get lost or just get destroyed. We had a rep come out and show us a few tricks and never had a problem after that. Any good service counter clerk should also be doing the same for you. They have rolls of clear tape right there that should be put over the shipping label, and the return label. But with priority you'll notice the main one they protect is the bar code. Its all that matters on priority, which is why they have a better success rate with that service. If you are shipping that much a month have one of their reps sit down with you and set you up on a priority account. It ends up being cheaper than buying stamps. And the best part is you don't even have to have a tax ID to do it. Just an account with them and a credit card on file for monthly billing.

I ship out hundreds of things a month. For heavy items shipped domestically, I use FedEX. While for Lighter things shipped domestic, as well as anything shipped international, I use USPS. When shipping Express mail to France we have been having problems with the packages getting lost. So when you ship to France, ship it Priority, or not at all. As for our lables, we use Uline sheets to print out our labels on. Hopefully you have a USPS/FedEx account. It makes things much easier to handle.

(that box posted above to France looks like it had a heavy item in it that wasn't padded, and I can tell it was not tapped properly.)

I use to ship a lot with USPS, but I don't recommend First Class or Parcel Post too much unless your labels are properly secured and you don't have anything overly fragile.

Priority is definitely the way to go.

International it's 50/50 on my end. I've had tons of delays with a lot of shipments.

I don't use UPS for shit. If I start selling a lot again I'll go FedEx.

Since I work at UPS (big brown, not the post office), let me say that most fuck ups are because of the shipper. And its unfortunate the driver gets a lot of shit, they're the last person to touch the box, and its not their fault when things go wrong.

How NOT to get you packages lost in UPS, or any other shipper

1. DO NOT Handwrite ANYTHING. Everything should be typed.
2. Have a printed digital tracking label
3. Use a PROPER Invoice with tracking # on it and all fields filled out.
4. Have a copy of the Invoice Inside and Outside the box (incase the label or invoice outside gets damaged, we can open the box and get the information). Do this for each box even if its a multiple shipment (like 5 separate boxes) going to the same address.
5. Properly package your shipments, use 3M Clear boxing tape and use packing peanuts.
6. Stop using weaksauce boxes you found in the back of a supermarket. Many packages get lost because they fall out on the conveyor. If the box is bulging because the item inside is too heavy, it will break eventually. Find a stronger box.
7. Stop trying to cheat the system by putting a sticker of a higher service label than you paid for. If in fact a sorter mistakes it for a higher service level that it isn't, when it gets to the loader he will not mistake it. So it will get put aside until later, when it will get resorted, which means more delays for your ass.
8. There should only be two addresses on a damn box, the Return Address (a REAL one) and Shipment Address. If you have old labels on a box, TAKE IT OFF.

Also, you wont believe how many USPS (post office), FedEx, and DHL boxes we get by mistake. I'm sure they get our boxes by mistake too, so your box may be there.

Yes I agree on taping clear tape over your labels.

this
those fucking douche bags made me buy tape for like 5$ since they know people won't come in with a back pack full of it, they over charge.

I usually just toss it in a flat rate box and drive to the post office, UPS is going to be my main choice cause its across the street from me know

Is it an actual UPS Hub or a UPS Store? The UPS Stores are actually independent they just license the name. Its better to drop it off at a hub or drop box.

FUCK USPS...but I have no other choice since I have to use them for military shipping. I wish military shipping would give us options once our shit is in the states.

How do I go about complaining about one of the UPS stores? I use to ship everything with UPS, around 50-75 packages a month. Always with the same store. Then one day I made the mistake of going there without my shipping labels printed out. The douche bag owner of the store wouldn't let me forward him the shipping label (from my email on my phone) so he could print them out to be used (It was only two labels). It was a situation where I had a buyer that provided his own prepaid labels on his account. Normally I pay at the store. I had to drive back home (20 mins) and print them out and come back. I sent an email to the customer service department from the website but never heard back. It was the LAST time I used UPS.

Sorry to thread jack for a minute.

Like I said, the UPS Stores are actually Mail Boxes Etc's. They just use the UPS name....
