Hey all,

Ok let me tell you a background of the motor so you can eliminate some problems.
-fully built KA-T
-JE pistons
-Crower Rods
-JWT Cams
-JWT ECU
-72lbs injectors
-block 0-ringed
-etc.....

ok here is the problem:
-motor has 80miles on it. just got it redone after having an issue with the valve guides. I have yet to take in boost and i am staying in vaccuum all this time. I drove it from work to my house last night and half way to my house the motor started to bogg. I barely made it my hill to my garage. when i got out, Clouds and clouds of white smoke poured out of the exhaust and when i opened the hood, i found that it was only running on three cylinders.

things i checked when the car was running:
-perfect vaccuum
-perfect fuel pressure
-perfect oil pressure (about 22psi at 1000rpm)

after i shut the car off.
-perfect color in the oil
-no oil in the water
-spark plugs (1)(2) and (4) looked great, nice brown. (3) hosed with fuel.
-did a compression test (130, 130, 115, 130)
-looked at every pistons top through the spark plug hole. all but the number 3 cylinder was fine. the number 3 cylinder was black and had a puddle of fuel(or some other liquid that i couldnt really see) on top of the piston. It also smelled like fuel from that cylinder.
-checked spark in every plug and it was good
-checked the ecu codes it threw, 132, which i think it IACV or MAP/Boro switch, cant remember. however i always get those codes
-checked MAF sensor and it was good.

tonight i am checking:
-pressure test on cooling system to see if coolant is going into the cylinder

another note: the smoke coming from the exhaust did not smell sweet like antifreeze but smelled like fuel.

not sure what to do now. I dont want to pull the head if I dont have to. I want to be sure that it is the headgasket before i do that.

thanks

jeff

there was a notification at work on KA motors running on three cylinders. it had to do with the EGR valve being stuck all the way open all the time, i dont remember the details or the exact story since i just glanced at it, so im just throwing out ideas.

hmm, wouldnt a check engine light be on for the egr valve?

if that is the case, isnt disconnecting the egr make no difference?

could the #3 injector be failing and dumping fuel??

^that's what I was thinking, check to see if cyl #3's injector got stuck open...

well i pressure tested the cooling system.

holds 23psi no problem

started the car again today, it ran great for about 10mins and then all hell broke loose and started to run on three cylinders again.

i checked the injector, seems to be ticking but it may not be closing all the way. so tomorrow i will change the #1 cylinder injector with the #3 cylinder injector and see if the same problem occurs with cylinder number 1.

any one else have any ideas?

My guess is a stuck injector
