Cigarette lighter question

So I bought the insert part for the cigarette lighter from RadioShack and there was only wires coming out of it I try to wire it through the harness and it didn't work so I plugged it through the power for my amp my question is: is it okay to do it that way?

wait.. so now you have the cig lighter wired up to a sound system amplifier, lol awesome!
why wouldn't work in the original spot?... have you tested the original wires for power?

I did but it didn't work but maybe a fuse is out have to double check it still wondering if it's okay if it's still wired to my amp

just fix it the correct way. it will take 2 sec. and you'll be happier when it's done right.

Did you test it with the key in the on position?

Possible to take a picture of your cig lighter and how you had it wired up (before the power amp way), I would like to see what you're doing.
