I recently bought an S15, 5spd shift knob, the one in black leather with red stitch. I was under the impression that only the 6 spd knobs were a different thread pitch. As soon as I installed the knob I noticed a rattling in the knob. The knob feals tight but there is without a doubt a rattle in it. Also this may sound crazy but I think it shortened the throw a little bit.:hsdance:

I researched and learned some teflon tape and JB weld would resize the knob to my thread pitch but Im still not convinced that the problem is in the thread pitch. Could it be a bad knob?

For reference and just becouse I love the knob, this one is a little different but you get the point.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks

just buy these and make your life easier if the pitch is in fact different. if not then the tape and jb weld fix should help

^^^^ do what he said or try teflon tape first, i don't think you would want to use JB weld.
