View Full Version : Who drifts their perfectly clean 240sx?
hey all,
i recently bought a 240sx s13 and learned how to drift. i've been drifting for about a year. About 1 month ago my tranny got f-ed up so i replaced it. I decided to paint my whole car and make it clean, body kit, etc etc etc. (always dreamed about having a clean 240)
its been gutted out and painted inside, switch panel, rb20det etc etc..
Now, i am having second thoughts about drifting my car. If i drift it, it would be competitive drifting.
This is not my daily, and i don't want to buy another missile 240.
How many of you guys drift your perfectly clean, aero'ed, painted 240sx?
Any pictures?

Whats the point to your question? Yes your car will get fucked up, its part of the game. If you wanna keep it pretty you gotta pay or dont drift it and buy another. Its the ugly truth.
yeah i know, its a hard decision. guess i gotta pay to play.

buy another good but not perfect 240 and drift the crap out of it....use the nice one as an occasional daily

I know what you mean and im not trying to be a dick in any way, but everyone will crash. Only thing that you can do to maybe help is remove your bumpers and make bash bars
yeah. thanks. and i guess it is really a dumb question, but after searching for a 240sx for 4 years, and spending to get it to where i have always dreamed of, it is a hard decision to decide wether to drift it or not.
imma look into that of the bash bars.
any other suggestions, comments, inspirations, are welcomed! :)

I think the REAL question is, can you AFFORD to fix it if it breaks?
yeah i can. the real deal is that i dont wanna have my chassis all bent up, cause here in my country it is very difficult to fin parts.

Oh ,you're a pimp. Just have extra parts/chassis in your storage.

im lucky enough i didnt hit any wall BUT , a LOT will break like bushings and engine internals and etc...its really up to u if ur up for expenses of it vs not drifting it and save the money to make it pretty , hell i even wash the car and wax it before some track days . some people might not agree with that but i guess "different strokes for different folks"
^^ yes!
that was what i was looking for. This is motivational. i guess it takes great balls and courage to drift your perfectly clean and beautiful car. i really like it.
More examples like this^ are welcomed :)

Well if you're really planning on doing something like grassroots, you better be willing to scratch tha paint because the more you do it, the more likely you are to break something. but thats why we buy these cars.

yeah. ill show you guys my car when its ready! its actually coming out of the paint shop in a few weeks!
it nothing out of this world, just a black hatch, freshly painted, body kit. gutted etc.. etc. but yeah, ill show you guys pics when its done.
its not the big deal, its just i don't wanna eff it up, cause in my country, we have only a few 240sx, and parts are really really scarce. I live in Dominican Republic, were drifting is growing very quickly, but parts for these cars are not easily found. i looked for my hatch for about 2 years, it was the best i could find around here, and its not good compared to you guys in the states.

If you want to continue drifting, and you love the sport than go for it. My 240 is pretty clean and has a brand new BMW M5 Charcoal Pearl paint job and I drift it. I had my first accident rite before I deployed. Caught too much angle and was worried about my back end hitting the tires so I tried to straighten back out but caught hard and went slamming through the tires up onto the dirt hill. Bent my front bumper in a little and cracked it, and it took them about 35 minutes to tow me out because I had tires all up under my car. Was I mad? Hell no, I love the sport, sh*t happens. Hell, I was happy, you don't crash from pussy footing the corners, you crash from going balls to the wall and trying something new either more speed or more angle. Just my 2 cents, and trust me, I'm a Marine...money aint easy to come by in my line of work :-P

Yes, OMG dude tell me you have pictures. My fucking buddy had my camera, but I had just got back from leave and my girl took over 1,000 pictures of Boston and it ran out of memory rite before I crashed. Hell yeah, man I was all excited cuz whats his face that works there and always drives that guys white supra, he was riding with me so I was like man, fuck this I'm going all out. and BLAM, tires, dirt, wall...happy crowd :-)

lol no pictures bro because we were just leaving then, BAMMM! haha. you didn't fuck up anything. Sucks seeing you crash tho but happy at the same time it wasn't me lol. When have you been having your jz on 240.

03-29-2011, 03:12 PM
The 2J has been in the car and up and running for about 10 months. The last time you saw me at Adams though was the last week I drove it. So about 7 months it hasn't been driven because I've been deployed. But yeah nothing got hurt, few scratches and a small crack on the side of the bumper, but like i said, I don't care what I break, as long as I go out in style. It's all in the name of the game and scratching up your fresh paint job while drifting is THE LAST thing you should be worried about...

It's not so much crashing and having to fix it as it is fixing every other god damn thing on the car that will break.

You should try not to smash but if you do make sure you have a sponsor like a body shop or a friend in auto collision who can repair you on the cheap and put their sticker on your windshield lol.
Jared0934
03-29-2011, 07:51 PM
lol I'm pretty sure you have to establish your *name* and *talent* before you get sponsors willing to do thousands worth of auto repair AND let there name be shown on a beginner drifters car.. just looks weird on them lol. but YEAH if your good that's definitely a sick way to go.

I think the concensus is to drift. I have well over 18k invested into my 240 over the time I've had it and if it breaks, well money well spent because like someone stated you only live once...

If you have money go for it. If you dont then dont bother its a expensive sport, but if its what you love to do then go for it. People spend tons of money on games, drugs, yugioh cards, etc But in the end if it makes you happy then why not. I have a clean kouki s14 i dont drift it. I get shit from ppl all the time about why i dont drift it. They say its ment for drifting but then again if you go and tell a guy with a sti to take his car and rally it im pretty sure hes gonna say no.

Mine is pretty "clean" I guess. I drift it more than I drive it normal. Been drifting the same car for over 6 years now... Many sanctioned and non-sanctioned events under the belt. I'm sorry, I just can't do the "zip-tied" thing.

I am in the process of building mine as well it's going to be a daily as well as a track car in my opinion Id rather smash it into a wall drifting then have some @## hole driver run a red light and take out the rear quarter but hey shit happens and then you move on right ill tell you there are chassis available and parts are easily swapable so long as they arent destroyed lol... anyways I say give it hell and drift the shit out of it!!

Go with the German spec one... they're so nice.
