anyone have these? I know its been asked a lot, cause i found a couple threads already during search but nothing helped

This has 6 wires compared to the RHU-M that only has 4 or something like that.

I found the pivot install pdfs and a website that slightly helped, but the directions on that website were so vague i kinda am still lost

If anyone can at least translate and identify the colors of the wires on the pivot pdf then i could figure the rest out, but i can't read kanji so i can't do it myself

http://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy234/chiboy002/rhu-xwirecolors.jpgEducated guesses, this looks to be it. From Brian's thread i found out the brown wire is what needs to be used, which controls the lights and causes a ghetto sleepy eye.

I'll confirm tomorrow night when i install - with pics of course :w00t:

1. Remove driver side door sill and kick panel
2. Remove white box to reveal black Headlight timer, remove that as well.
3. Locate the Pink/Black wire, bottom right pin on the headlight timer plug.
http://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy234/chiboy002/1018081000.jpg
4. Cut wire, connect Grey wire from RHU-X to the Timer side of the pink/black wire and Yellow wire to the harness side. (Pretend the black wire is grey)
http://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy234/chiboy002/1018081016.jpg
5. If the 3A fuse is on the Red wire from the controller, then ground both the black and red wires. Simply use a crimp on circle terminal and ground it to the chassis using the bolt that holds the Timer in place or the dash support.
http://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy234/chiboy002/1018081032.jpg
6a. Blue and Orange wires are positive, Orange being illumination for the LEDs on the controller. I chose to splice these into the radio harness, but it is more commonly connected to the Ignition wire for +12V power. I cannot identify the color of this wire.
6b. It is recommended to use an inline fuse on the positive wire rather than the ground.

Update:

Don't use the radio harness for the BLUE wire in step 6a. I'm having issues with mine in which the controller works when ever it wants, and i'm pretty sure it's having to do with something with the radio harness being the wrong (+) wire i need.

I will find the proper ignition source, i believe its a white and red one, but i may be wrong.

I need to try wiring mine again... I couldn't get it to work last time I did it. I am pretty sure I did all of the wiring right, but I couldn't get it to do anything. I think I might have gotten a dud. :(

yeah i was worried about that when i started working with mine, i used an rc charger to test it out though and see if everything worked while being hooked up to the car (minus (+) and (-) cables.

pretty much just use the negative prong on the rc car as a ground and such, and then wire up the unit to the pink/black wire as needed. Then you can tell if it works without worrying if you spliced the wrong power wires

no i did not

the differences as far as i know is rhu-m is smaller in size and doesn't have led's to indicate what percent the unit is letting the headlights close.

RHU-X has led's at 10/20/30/40/50/60/70/80/90 and move up and down as you turn the dial. However, this prevents ti from being a cleaner install cause with the rhu-m you can take the casing out and put it in one of the dash shroud blank slots

wire harness came uncut lol, it's like 4 feet of wire so it has plenty of room to move around. I might do that though, thanks!

Hey bros,

I found a Rhu-m on YAJ but was unable to purchase it because it expired (stupid time zones)

So I got my troll on and found a brand new unit, avalible from a performance parts supplier.

I bought up the last of their inventory :)

Not only is that not a headlight controller but it's a knockoff. If it was authentic it would say "pivot" usually on the lower left hand side of the control unit

I did this to install on my car. Looks clean. It's a stock O/D Indicator. You can move Pivot internal easily to this one. Hole is already there.

Just installed mine (well its not wired up yet I'm lazy)

I didn't want to disassemble the controller because it's brand new.. I grabbed a razor and shaved the o/d indicator holster a little bit..

^ the wiring from manufacturers aren't in Pivot's control. They made one unit for all cars

DSM wiring is different than Nissan which is different from Mazda, and so forth. When you look at their website they have 180sx diagrams, rx7 diagrams, mr2 diagrams, and all that.

@ Jackb77 - sleepy eyes don't work for headlights on. It only intercepts the signal to put the motors down. Look at DIY sleepy eye mod if you want them on and sleepy (road lighting goes to shit, and bumper lights up lol)

Sell the rhu-x
