To start off i was looking to trade my GSXR 750 for a 240sx for almost 6 months. After a long search i found one in Kansas so off i went to pick up my car in August of last year. Took me and a friend 4 days to go from Arizona to Kansas and back mostly non stop driving other then gas and food.
What I found was a 1991 240sx hatch with a sr20det.
Mods list as the car came

The first thing me and my friend did to the car.

Mount body kit because it was falling off all the way back from Kansas. We also noticed a crap load of leaks ie front main seal - trans - radiator. Plus the camber was fucked and we had to get that sorta fixed because i was going to use the car as a D/D for work.
So after driving for a little over a month we decided to clean the engine bay up.

That lead to :
finding a power steering set up
relocating the boost solenoid
cleaning up the vacuum lines
hooking up my Boost gauge
Fix the Bat relocation kit that was really shitty
plus some other minor stuff

After about 6 more weeks of driving the car i decided to clean it up some more and install some trick machine fasteners - aluminum radiator - E-Fans - cooling panel - and a new radiator mount.


My friend made the cooling panel - radiator mount and the E-Fan shroud.

I didnt get a chance to drive it due to one of the E-Fans having a broken blade. Thanks to Enjuku for sending me a new one out with no real issue.

While waiting for the E-fan we decided to pull the fenders to do a wire harness tuck because i want to drop the car another 3'' and go with 40mm front over fenders and 50mm rear over fenders.

Us tucking the harnesses and bashing the seam line up.

While we were tucking the harness we located some over fenders in california. So we went on a drive to get them. We couldn't really wait to test fit them.

After the test fit we noticed there was still going to be a issue with the front and back rubbing. So we both said fuck it lets TUB and STITCH WELD the bitch.

The hood came on the car. The old old owner had the 280z turbo vents put on. Whoever did them did a really good job.

No thats just how we put them on real fast when we rolled the car out for cleaning.

The coils arent that bad but the 2 fronts are blown and were hoping they will warranty them.

Man I don't know if you had a bad experience but the coils are good (for the money). So far I've daily driven them for about 4 months with a few track days in and so far so good. Plan on using them for another 6 months or so them getting the Powered By MAX competition coils.

It started off as a daily car build but my friend wanted something a litle more so i talked him into the tubs and stitch weld. Got him talked into a cage but we have a time frame to follow. We have till october to finish the engine bay / motor / body work and paint. But after that im going to cage and do a full stitch weld on this bitch.


The tube are a 10'' single axle trailer fender i got local here for $25 i think. Thanks for the compliment.

Sorry there hasn't been any updates lately. Money got real tight for the last month. I possibly might be trading my truck plus cash and buyers end so I can get the ball rolling on this again. I just need supplies to get the bay done and move on to wiring then body and paint. Updates should be coming soon.

In the last couple days we finished the filler on the tubs and got the bay ready for primer. We decided to hold off on the final painting of the bay till all the body work is done that way it all gets done at once and we dont have a issue of fucking up the paint in the bay. Also started to sand the car down for body work.


Today we welded up some more hols and the rust we found also shaved the antenna and rear wiper arm.

In the last few days we have:

Got the bay, bash bar, fm mount, headlight brackets and all that good stuff painted. Got all the rest of the motor cleaned up and painted and put back together. HOPEFULLY by the end of the weekend we will have the break lines ran. Get the cross member bolted back up and get the motor in. Then off to wiring.

Made some progress the last week. Had a buddy come help out with the pillar dent.

we used this dent puller by welding a tab on and heating up the area and pulling

and then once we got it close we just did a heat and shrink. Got the metal red hot then hit it with a cold rag.

Well It’s been a long year since we have started this build. We have learned a lot and done some things twice and fucked something’s up in the last year. But it feels so good to be on the tail end of this build and ready for Vegas FD.

We decided to run a self-ejecting D-Zus on the front and rear bumper so we can remove them with ease.

After the D-zus were mounted we started to heat gun the shitty extreme dimensions fenders. The rears fit of but the fronts were just pure junk. So those fenders are in the trash. Have no real pics of how bad the fronts were. so while waiting for the new sex fenders from frsports we did other things.
Started off by removing all the sound deadening bull shit to prep for the cage.

Then decided to remove the rear subframe to weld the diff and clean it up.

We then decided to upgrade to some Stance Sub frame solid bushing.
so we burned the old ones out while they were on order from frsports.

While waiting for the bushing me friend bought a welder and and talked me into doing gussets and boxing the ruca mounts.

After the install of that we Made the 3 1/2 hour drive to frsports to pick up some new parts. Unwrapping will come and be posted.. Got some free shirts plus a bad ass hour of bullshitting with a couple of frsports sales guy while we wrapped this for the 3 1/2 hour trip back to Havasu.

Got this delivered to the house for freeeeeee 90ft of 1.5'' .120 wall DOM.

The whole goal behind the cage was to make it to where we could run all the panels from the rear struts forward. Just for more of a daily driver feel.

Started off by make the strut tower mounts. 2hours of bending and banging to get them where we liked..

Thanks man. Its really hard to be patient when i havent driven the car in over a year, but it will be worth it in the end.

update for today:
Got the new over fenders mounted. Origins look so much better and fit fantastic, hardly any sanding needed to get them to fit.

Update for 3/29-6/16



After we got the rear Origin 50mm overs mounted we worked on mounting the 40mm fronts noticed some minor waviness on the fenders so it was fill time and more sanding.

Once the fenders were on we tired to mount the side skirts. But for some reason with the 40mm fronts and the 50mm rears the skirts were 7/8'' short so it was time to extend the skirts.

i cut down a paint stick and uses some 60second epoxy and gued the paint stick where i wanted the skirt to be held together.

After the epoxy was set up enough i used some blue tape to keep the fuberglass resin where i wanted it.

I then took some 10 oz fiberglass cloth and put the strength back into the skirt for filling the gap Got two layers of cloth.

I then took the paint sticks off sanded away the epoxy and filled the gap on the other side with light weight filler.

after this was done we decided to go back to body work got alot of the dents we missed fixed the front fenders and block sanded the car again

We also decided to build a new front bash bar. The other one looked like a foot ball mask. The front bash bar now has a center jack point and mounts the fmic to it and the bumper supports. We olse decided to flip the fmic upside down for shorter fmic tubes and ease of install.

After that we took all the windows out for paint. We were trying to use a torch and heat up a putty knife but that was a no go. I remembered this tool the window guy had when he came to remover the windshield so i made my own. 1'' putty knife welded to a sawzall blade and holly fuck did it work just keep it lubed with some water. Had all the windows out in 15-30min

Found someone to level the doors than paint the car for some fabrication trade work. Now that thats done we can move onto better things. New fmic piping / brake lines / fuel lines / drive train ..

Haha Thank you, sorry about your work. The steel is 16g cold rolled. Yes lots of pictures for wiring when we get to that point.


Not much of an update, but we got the car back together and on the ground for the painter to go over it.

Dont mind the side skirt fitment, its just laying there for now. Also the doors had to be stripped back down and are in the process of being redone. From what you can see though is we took a lot of time lining everything up. I hate saggy bumpers!! Also cut the running light hole out cuz the origin fenders dont have them pre cut. Oh and rockin a oem hood now. I felt the vented hood was a lil much.

Today got her pulled out and cleaned out the inside (getting ready for paint again). Have some wet sandding to do on the inside and little shit here and there.

Well paint is on hold again. Started to spray with the paint we have and it looks really bad. So we made the call to stop before getting to far. So putting that shit on hold again until i can get a better quality paint. Until then we are going to focus on getting the front back together.

Got a few things done in the last few days. Added a bmc stopper to the strut bar. Over kill is the name of the game haha.

Since it's going to be a while until we get to paint we went ahead and painted the front half of the inside of the car. Now we can move forward on wiring and fuse box location. Just trying to stay busy and move forward.

Good question. Haven't had the car on a dyno yet and will have to weigh it when it's complete.

Sorry for the lack of updates. It's been a crazy month and a half. We had the arrival of my third child on November 3rd. It was a rough birth for him and my wife. Not easy getting a ten pound baby out lol.

Anyway the car has been on hold with the new baby as well as doing side work. Daniel took on a rb25 swaped s14. Kid had it in three different shops through out a year. The car had never even been started. All the shops fucked this kid. But glad to say as of yesterday he finally got to drive his car for the first time.

As far as my car goes we hope to start wiring sometime this week. Hopefully start getting some real updates for you guys.

Like Troy said above the car was set back a little to make some extra cash.

We took on a s14 s2-rb25 swap that two other shops couldn't do. After the kid spent well over 4k in the swap not including the motor he contacted me to help him. The two shops that attempted this swap did some really janky work. The Wiring Specialties harness wasn't installed rite - they took the doors apart and disconnected the window motors - all the break lines on the BMC were lose - someone cut the driver side frame horn to fit the fmic in - all the front body panels were lose - cut the hood latch / light mounts off the upper core - the whole exhaust was sealed with red RTV Silicone and alot of other shit we had to go through.


Not really going to go into the wiring because it was a easy fix. They had the abs plugs pluged into the CAS/Injector plugs so a quick swap some replacement fuses and boom motor started up.

After the motor was running i took on the cooling system. You can see here where i sectioned the core support out and re boxed it in for the added strength. Needed to do this because he wanted to use the oem mounts and run some 12'' E-Fans.

There were alot of other small shit to do with the wiring and power windows im not going to bore you with. We still have some other bugs to work out but there samll.

As of now the car runs amazing sounds amazing and the fire balls this thing shoots makes it even better.


If you ever look into doing a swap and want a shop to do it ( Please research the shop ) This kid is out alot of money for two inexperienced shops claiming they can do this kinda work. Its easy and no one should over pay for anything. I had to fix so much bull shit that should of never been done or touched.

Thank you very much. I plan on upgrade the wheels after everything else is complete. I actually really like the wheels, so no a rush. As far as the other questions ill have Daniel answer, he's the mad man behind the fab work.

Thank you. Detail is everything for us. If it wasn't what we wanted 100% it would get re-done. It's definitely hard to stay positive about it when it's been three project, with a year of down time.

This car was built off the new Miller Matic 211 Autoset MVP. I have welded up to 7/8" multi pass with it and it will burn through 1/4" pretty easy. I love it best welder I have ever owned. I learned how to weld early 1998 and been welding since. Went to multiple schools for welding and fabrication. But with the miller 211 autoset anyone can do it with a small crash course. The owner of the LS6 BMW b3 build im doing bought one after using mine and he has turned into a pretty good mig welder.

Im not the owner but have help Troy out through the process of building his car.

I thank you for the kond words. It really helps because its fallen off the map a little. But I see good things in this cars future and plan to have it at Longbeach FD.
