Greetings. I’m the original owner of a 1998 Nissan 240SX SE in Great Condition with only ~79k miles which I must soon sell to make way for a family-friendly vehicle.
The car is black and features 5-speed Manual Transmission, AM/FM/CD/SAT Audio System with Steering Wheel Audio Controls, AC, 16" Alloy Wheels, Cruise Control, Power Locks/Mirrors/Sunroof, and Driver/Passenger Airbags. Based solely on what I've been told it has a different front end.
Does anybody out there have any idea how much the car is worth nowadays so I can list it at a fair price? Any recommendations for the best venue to sell a car like that? Ebay? Craigslist?
Thanks All!

Hopefully it has the super rare Zenki front end conversion.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it... In that kind of condition though I would expect $7-8000 and it will sell very fast.

Post it in the for sale section with more pictures. You'll get a pretty penny for it judging by how clean it is in that picture. Its a Kouki with uner 100k miles and its a 5 speed. 6-8k should come easily

book values are good guidelines, but i hate them when a vehicle has issues , especially when paying sales tax on it. Example, My Dad bought a Prelude SH with 64K. Clean Title, yet the car was wrecked and from what I can guess caused the oil pump to fail explaining the reason rod #3 was hang out of the block. He paid Paid $1500 for the car but WV DMV wouldn't accept that price unless he had a notarized letter, and seeing that the man who's name was on the title was in Iraq, that wasn't possible. So he had to pay taxes on book, it was a little more then $8000.
Your car, If it were mine, $6000-6500 on an S Chassis Forum, $6500-7000 on anything.

That's kind of his fault for choosing to buy it, or did he find all of that out after picking the car up?

It'll be worth more later. Don't sell it until you HAVE to. And even then save it for a bit longer. Your car is extremely rare now a days...

I'm looking forward to becoming a family man soon so I'm fairly sure I'll need to sell the 240; I was just hoping to get top dollar to help offset baby expenses and put some money toward some dank 4-door. Thanks for all the feedback guys!

nope, there were only 1232 made buddy. They are super rare, if you start looking at colors and options, you can get a really rare car pretty quick.
Since you're east coast, I'd say anywhere from $6000-$7500 depending on the buyer. I picked a 98 LE in November in NC for $4000 in really good shape but 140k miles.

Who gives a fuck about mileage...most folks will rip that KA before anything else anyways.
Also, I cant see the picture but if it has a Zenki front end on it...why would you pay Kouki S14 price for it?

it has a kouki front

If its actually a 98', the Zenki Kouki confusion is probably just because somebody told you that it has a rare Kouki front on it and the rest got lost in translation.
Not originally a Zenki guys, originally a Kouki...

Here in DC, I'd ask at least $9k for it.
I'd TAKE $8k, probably.
I sold my Silver Moss '98, bone stock, in 2006 and I got $10,250 for it. I guess prices have come down some mostly because there are so many other things you can get for $10k now, like AP1's, IS300's, etc.

That was a LONG time ago, the economy has tanked since then, and the drift tax has lifted on the east coast. No way this car is worth 9k, or even 8k on the east coast, is that saying someone with money wouldn't pay that for it? No, but you would have to hold on to it long enough to find the dumb......er right buyer.

I searched for 6 months for a black stock kouki with under 80k miles.
Settled for a silver moss w/ 52k and am kicking myself for it.
That car will pull 8k no problem

^^ I was thinking the same thing, I searched for a nice silver moss SE sunroof car for over two years and never found one. Bought my black LE because I settled. If you ever want to sell that silver moss, let me know

I'm halfway through an SR swap right now. If someone wanted to trade shells, Id be down if they were in similar condition. My silver moss has 95k now and the paint reflects that. It looks good, but is no showcar. I was planning to repaint it the same color (as much as I want to paint it black). Itd be a slap in the face to all you silver moss lovers if i painted it black lol.
Something about a slammed black kouki on equips makes me nut my pants. Cant help it. Silver moss just doesnt do it for me. lol

I say 7-8k on a good day. These cars have gone up in prices dramatically. I bought mines in 03' for $4900 and it's still here. Stock 5spd, SE with sunroof and 5 lug.
Silvermoss does it for me!

I agree. 6-8k easy. But please don't sell it to a 16yr old drifto fan-boy wanna be. I would hate to see another rare 240 wrecked.
The white s14 is an 98 SE auto I found locally for a little over $1500. It has slight body damage all around but for a mint example like yours is surely a collectors item with a fine price.

I always wonder when I see pre 2k cars with under 100k miles on them. Had to have had "weekend cruiser" status or sat in storage for years. I put 5k on my bike yearly and I only get 4-5 months a year to ride, weather permitting.

ive never understood the value people see in the s14
being that ive owned the s13 since the 90s, when the s14 came out i test drove it and found little to desire over the s13.
i like the 97-98 j-spec silvia in terms of styling. i think the US cars need work, regardless if theyre 95-96 or 97-98... and obd-II sucks even more about 97-98 us cars.
in the end, i never could justify the costs of the s14. the non-springy "clamp style" steering adjustment was the immediate notice, to me, that this is a cheaper car.
i guess the 5-lug option is a plus, but it ends there.
even at 6k, thats a lot of money to spend on a crappy car. what i mean is, in comparison, i picked up a silver sc300, black interior w/ ~80k on the odo and a lill over 6k. different car, apples with oranges, but 46k sticker vs what... 25k sticker? toyota vs nissan build quality. weight aside, its a reasonable comparison.. except one car is much more expensive to tune.
