Car: 1993 Nissan 240sx KA24DE Automatic.
130k miles. all stock.

i just picked this up for my girlfriend about a week ago now. we got a bunch of paper work on the car that states the injectors were replaced in 2008, along with cap, rotor, plugs, wires. as well as a bunch of other things.

once we got the car home the car developed a slight misfire while it was in PARK. thought it was maybe an injector since it seems thats a extremly common issue, pulled each clip with the car running and no changes. checked the ohms at the injector harness they all read the same.

so with the car running i stared touching some of the wiring, and when i touch the wiring from the distributor to the 1st injector area the car's misfire gets worse, when i touch it the other way it seems to go away. so i'm assuming there has to be a wiring problem. But there inlies the issue i'm not that great at wiring stuff. so how can i fix it? should i redo the wiring? or just look for a short/broken wire? or look for a change through the multimeter, or should i just buy a "new" harness that goes along that section?

thanks.

I'm a little late but, here goes.

Go to radio shack and get some wire splices. Get a couple different sizes if youre unsure of what size, and also get some heat shrink tubing. Find where the wire/wires are bad. Cut the wire, strip each end, twist the strands of wire. slide a section of heat shrink about 1/4 inch longer than the splice youll be using over one of the wires. Crimp the splice onto one of the wires, insert the other wire into the other end and crimp that, then slide the heat shrink up and use a lighter till its good on there, dont burn it.

However, if its bad wiring inside of the connector, youll need to take it to a dealer. Its a specialized tool to fix those damn modex connectors.

try to clean the connectors could be corroded ones.

Eh, doubt it. If the connectors are corroded, theyre just gonna get poor continuity and its gonna be dog shit no matter which way he moves the wires. But if its getting better or worse depending on which way the wire bends, most likely the wire is badly knicked and hes causing it to have more or less contact causing the injector to work how its supposed to or not at all.

Find the wire, if the insulation is cut through anywhere, chances are at least a couple of the wire strands inside are as well. Splice the wire like I described and it should be good as new. Look around on your harness too, if ones like that, some of the others might be on the way out. That way if they are, you can fix it now instead of it cutting out when youre driving and you start beating your head on the steering wheel.
