hey how's it going everyone. i am about to buy an s13 coupe and the guy said it's equipped with an LSD, but you can't always trust people nowadays. I went to phase2motortrend and looked at the FAQ, but does anyone have pictures of the sticker they mentioned? I just want to know because the whether or not the car is equpped with an LSD will be THE deciding factor on whether or not i buy the car. here's the deal. please comment on it and tell me if it's a good deal.

its an orange sticker with a width of about 3/4" that says "Viscous LSD" you cant really see it unless you take the drivers wheel off or lift the car up

Buy it anyway... I would. I'd be more concerned with rust then a vlsd. Vlsd didnt come as a option on 89's, so it might be possible he put one on.

even if the sticker is there, he could have put a sticker on a non LSD pumpkin.
jack up the rears to check, it's the only way to avoid possibly getting ****ed.

my coupe has an LSD
Just to backup boro240, check out these specifications charts for our cars. It was never an option for coupes or pre-91..

definately worth buying my friend.....800 bucks....if the body is clean and has no rust....if u have like 5 gs to spend on it....get some good suspension and brakes....then get an sr20det and have some fun. then u got a freaking cheap ass car thats better then most cars selling for 30 grand

FACT: S13 COUPES NEVER HAD LSD OR VLSD FROM THE FACTORY. IT WAS NOT STANDARD, NOR WAS IT AN OPTION.
Is this correct? We've got people in this thread claiming yes, others claiming no. I'm going to be looking at S13 coupes in the coming months for my own little project, and I'd really like to know what the REAL answer is. I'm inclined to believe the spec sheets on SoCal240SX.org, which say that the coupes, '89-'93, NEVER, EVER, EVER had LSD. RIGHT?

the guy who said his coupe has LSD is Canadian. Canadian coupe had HICAS as an option, and all 91+ had LSD (or so people say, but ive heard of people finding cars in canadian junkyards without, so i dunno).

wow. i didn't know this thread was still going. well i bought the car! it's nice and everything. I didn't bother to check if it had a VLSD or not because it was made pretty clear that it won't have one. I have a few things for sale from the car. you guys can ask me if you need anything. umm, a few things would be:
- stock front and back seats, rewrapped in custom leather. gray and black two-tone.
- random interior pieces.
- things from the blown motor.
just ask if you guys want anything. thanks

So how does lifting the car up and spinning the back tires tell if the car has lsd??? what are you looking for?

jack up car
put car in neutral
put ebrake off
turn wheel
if other wheel on car turns OPPOSITE direction..OPEN DIFF
if other wheel turns SAME direction..VLSD
takes 5 mins to find out. not even 5...like 2 mins
