Hey I have a Q, Wanna know if its safe. Previous owner
Left the hose from TB->Bov Nipple Plugged off Because the Bov Leaks.
And so the Nipple is Open.
I am getting flutter but I dont boost much.
Is this safe until i can get a new Bov ?
And What is exactly happening with this set-up, Is it just as if the Bov is not there?

yeah its fine if your boost is low.. people run 22psi+ with no bov on drift cars but thats probly not the best for someone whos not swimming in money and turbos
the flutter noise is the air slowing down the turbine from the cold side..
all the air pressure just has nowhere to go so it gets pushed back to the turbine, its as if there is no bov at all. but consitter this, if it was a shitty bov leaking, then chances are the spring or seal are bad in it and it being unplugged wont necessarily stop the valve from letting air/ pressure escape.. so you may still have a boost leak right there...
it actually feels pretty good to drive, its a bit more responsive because more pressure remains in the pipe but its not so good for your turbo, lots more unnecessary force on the impeller can ruin seals and cause oil leeks or seizure.. but it would take quite a bit of it at pretty high boost to cause damage.. dose it try to ie at idle or when you decelerate?
i would just replace the bov asap and keep the boost as low as possible until then, and dont mash on it..
and enjoy the cool flutter noise.

he means the compressor. the turbine never experiences a backflow because the exhaust system never shuts. its the throttle body that shuts, and the air is reversed through the intake plumbing past the compressor and out the air filter.
the flutter you hear could damage the compressor eventually. the best thing you can do for the turbo is simply disconnect the wastegate actuator, the turbo will not boost at all and it will be safe to drive until you get the bov working.
Edit this also means you can safely run 87 octane fuel, no boost, no dynamic compression increase :2f2f:

^ Haha wth never heard of that,
but I mean Stock CA18dets run no Bov,
So if its bad why did they do it from the factory?
And is it normal to hear the Flutter even below 0 Psi?

yeah it will flutter like crazy since even the slightest amount of pressure leftover can do it..
kingtalon cleared it up a bit, that makes complete sense
its not necessarily bad for it on lower boost, its just not good..
are you sure stock ca18's run no bov? maybe its just a reserc?
seems odd to do that factory..
maybe they did it for response?

Ca18s have no bov, Probably bc the turbo is sooo freaking small haha
You said the bov is receiving vacuum through the throttle body, what kind of motor is this? On my rb20 I have the bov receiving vacuum through a plenum plug, post throttle body. The vacuum source on a throttle body, on my rb20 anyways, is a PRE throttle body source. Have you tried a different vacuum plug?
