Hello,
A few days ago I started up my car, but it idles higher than desired.

The motor has not been started in two years. During that time the timing/distributor and the idle air screw were not touched. However, I did remove all emissions and unnecessary vacuum lines, swapped the upper intake manifold portion for an S14 one, and overall stripped the manifold to only the necessities.

The idle is steady, actually it is more solid than it has ever been. It just idles too high. I assume a vacuum leak/open vacuum would cause the idle to be rough, so I am ruling that out. Or is that not necessarily true?

After searching the internet, I learned an air regulator that is stuck open will cause a high idle, and a faulty Throttle Position Sensor could be the culprit as well. Are there any easy ways to check either of those? What else could be the cause?

Thank you for any help.

check that idle screw

you may have a leak somewhere in your intake as well.

Well, the idle screw has not been touched. It should be adjusted for correct idle, so I would rather not mess with it unless I know that is the problem for sure.
And could a leak in the intake cause such a drastic idle increase?

CHECK THE IDLE SCREW DOOD!

everybody says that -.- my idle went up to around there when i installed my header and hadn't properly blocked off my egr stuff. maybe that's the culprit? the idle screw isent always the answer. in fact, its never been the answer in any case ive heard of.

You have a vacuum leak acting like the TB is open! Thus causing you idle to go High !

Check your work you have a Vacuum leak!

There's also an idle screw/adjustment near the throttle plate...make sure that isn't holding the throttle open.

Also make sure your TPS is adjusted properly
