View Full Version : Have an idea for cars that are lowered and with body kits.

I'm not sure if anyone has done this or if their is any drawback to doing it. I know it's hard to jack up cars equipped with body kit and that are extremely lowered. My idea is to make a bracket 5/4 lugs which sits on the lug nuts with a metal pipe on the center extended outward do u can jack up the car from their. Think about it like a engine stand bracket that's used to bolt the motor down. Any inputs???

so you'd have to unbolt the wheel and then rebolt the extension on? i would probably pass on that. besides, i wouldn't really want to cantilever all that weight onto my wheel studs.

That might work, but wouldn't you have to take the wheel off to use it? Thus needing to jack the car up to put on the device used to make it easier to jack the car up?
I don't think you are overlooking that... I am leaning towards me just not understanding what you mean, lol.

I'm thinking he means:
1. Install bracket with wheels on.
2. Jack up the car.
3. Place stand underneath car.
4. Remove bracket.
5. Remove wheel
6. Done.
If this is in fact the case, seems a little excessive in my opinion. People can use something similar to the GP Sports rear jacking point for the back. Up front, just build some extremely low profile ramps. My friend and I built some ramps for less than $20. Car can have less than an inch of clearance up front and it'll still clear our ramps.
They're a bit long (4ft?), but it's easier to drive the car up onto the ramps than have to install a bracket and go through several steps before being able to work on what you needed.

i took a spare piece of dom after doing my roll cage and notch and welded it onto the rear bumper beam on my s13, painted it black and you cant see it but now when i jack the rear end of my car up i have no problems getting it lifter unlike before when i would hit the gas tank trying to get to the diff.

QUICK LIFTER / GP SPORTS (http://www.gpsports.co.jp/quicklifter/index.html)
Why not just buy one of these or make your own
I've seen quite a few guys at the track when I was still in Japan that had something welded in front of the rear bumper that they used to jack up the car with. That way the handle is not under the car and you can get the full movement out of the handle

^^^ This seems more reasonable,it is similar to what I'm going to do. I will be welding brackets on the underside of the car right behind the sideskirts, then have an easy access flap on the skirts to have a european style jack lift.

Yeah, buy some lo-pro ramps or make your own. Or you could just pull off your aero. I only ever pull off my aero and jack from tow-hook or diff.

U don't unbolt any of the lug nuts... The plate would go over the lug nuts so you don't strip the studs and then u lift the car. An it's only so we can lift the car so I would say it would take u appx a min or so.

You have a jack that isn't nearly at its limit by the time you get to lug nut height? Must be nice...
I guess what I'm saying is you will lose some of your ability to lift because you're already starting high. Ramps do the trick, take less fab, and less time to implement- I'll stick with ramps.

I didn't think of that but now I would just do a 90 degree pointing down ... I'm going to fab one up on paint lol then weld one up

i made a tow hook style bracket thats bolted to the frame and goes through my bumper
i would get picks but my cars in Florida and i work in Texas,
its quit simple
OEM tow hook removed, make or have made quarter inch plate that goes right to the bumper so its flush
then make or have made a boxed piece that slides over it
so when you don't need it just throw it in the glove/center box and you don't have anything sticking out of your body kit/panels
i have one in the rear passenger side (lhd) and one on the drivers side, these points lift the cars both wheels front or back
the only thing/problem Ive noticed is my front lip, i need to make the boxed slider longer , because as you jack the car comes closer and the jack hits the greddy lip, other than that many have seen my set up and have improved or modified it

Air jacks?? Lol ... No thanks the solution I'm thinking will cost 20 bucks to make
or free, I just use a brick with the front bumper off.
rear, i just drive over bricks and jack from the diff.

And once you do that you're creating rotating leverage as you jack up, how do you keep it from turning?

My Idea Was Supposedly Used but I CAN NOT Find it.
Make some type of heavy Duty Kevlar Bag (lined with rubber I guess) that is in Certain/Selectable lengths that Collapses Flat like a empty Burlap Sack.
But Have a Fitting to allow air compressor (or even air pomp) To Plug in.
Slide bag under car (deflated) to Lift From Frame Rail to raise car for jack.Would Slide Right under your aero.
You Could even use it on Crossmember, maybe rad Support - due to its Designated length to spread the Force as to Not bend or damage.
PERFECT!

My autoshop instructor goes rock crawling alot and he always has this in the trunk.

It just plugs into your exhaust to inflate the bag. It works great for jacking a car up in weird landscapes or even to flip a car over. It inflates pretty fast too.
